As an Instrumentation & Controls Technician supporting our pharmaceutical manufacturing client, you will play a critical role in ensuring the precision, reliability, and compliance of instrumentation systems within a regulated GMP environment. This position sits at the intersection of technical expertise and operational excellence, where your work directly impacts product quality, patient safety, and business continuity. You'll be responsible for the calibration, verification, troubleshooting, and maintenance of critical instruments and control systems used across CMC operations, laboratories, and facilities. If you're a hands-on problem solver who thrives in a fast-paced, compliance-driven environment and values precision and accountability, this is your opportunity to contribute to life-saving pharmaceutical operations with JLL's world-class Facilities Management team.
What your day-to-day will look like:
- Execute calibrations and verifications of critical instrumentation (scales, balances, gauges, pressure transducers, RTDs, temperature transmitters, humidity sensors, pH probes, flow meters, and related devices) in accordance with approved job plans, SOPs, and regulatory standards.
- Troubleshoot, test, and repair electronic and pneumatic components used within BMS manufacturing operations, laboratories, and facility systems to maintain optimal performance and minimize downtime.
- Maintain full compliance with cGMP documentation requirements by accurately completing all calibration records, maintenance logs, and work orders with integrity and traceability.
- Manage work orders end-to-end within IBM Maximo CMMS, ensuring proper initiation, execution, data entry, and closeout for scheduled maintenance, corrective actions, change controls, and emergency events.
- Plan and coordinate external calibration services with third-party vendors, ensuring timely scheduling, data accuracy, and adherence to quality standards.
- Perform system modifications and improvements, making proactive recommendations to enhance instrumentation performance, reliability, and compliance.
- Use diagnostic tools and instruments skillfully, applying manual and powered electrical repair techniques to maintain high standards of equipment functionality and safety.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on calibration experience in a technical or industrial setting, with demonstrated proficiency in instrumentation calibration and verification.
- Minimum 2 years working in a GMP-regulated environment (pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical device manufacturing), with understanding of cGMP documentation and compliance requirements.
- Proficiency with CMMS platforms (preferably IBM Maximo) for work order management, data entry, and traceability documentation.
- Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish (written and oral), with the ability to interpret technical documentation, SOPs, and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 lbs, and to stand/walk for extended periods while performing field work across various facility areas.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Building Management Systems (BMS) and understanding of HVAC controls, environmental monitoring, and automated facility systems.
- Familiarity with electronic component testing methodologies and diagnostic procedures to determine functionality and capacity levels.
- Knowledge of regulatory standards such as FDA 21 CFR Part 11, ISO 17025, or USP guidelines related to instrumentation and calibration.
- Basic computer proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and ability to generate reports and technical documentation.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a collaborative mindset and commitment to teamwork in a high-compliance environment.
- Flexibility and adaptability to work in various climate conditions, adapt to changing operational demands, and maintain proper use of PPE at all times.
