Mobile Maintenance Manager Position Overview
- The Mobile Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing and delivering maintenance services across multiple branch locations. This role requires extensive travel to ensure all facilities maintain optimal operational standards, regulatory compliance, and cost-effective maintenance programs. The successful candidate will serve as a hands-on leader who manages maintenance operations while physically traveling between sites.
Key Responsibilities Maintenance Operations Management:
- Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance programs across all assigned branch locations. Conduct regular site visits to assess facility conditions, equipment performance, and maintenance needs. Coordinate and prioritize maintenance activities based on urgency, budget, and operational impact. Ensure all work complies with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Multi-Site Oversight:
- Travel regularly between branch locations to provide direct supervision and support to maintenance teams and contractors. Develop standardized maintenance procedures and ensure consistent implementation across all sites. Monitor facility conditions and identify opportunities for improvements or efficiency gains. Serve as the primary point of contact for branch managers regarding maintenance matters.
Team Leadership
- Manage, train, and mentor maintenance staff and contractors across multiple locations. Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching to improve technical skills and service delivery. Build effective working relationships with branch leadership and operational teams. Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Vendor and Contractor Management
- Select, negotiate with, and manage relationships with maintenance contractors and service providers. Review contractor work quality and ensure adherence to specifications and timelines. Monitor vendor performance and implement corrective actions when necessary. Maintain approved vendor lists and ensure competitive pricing.
Budget and Cost Control
- Develop and manage maintenance budgets for assigned branch portfolio. Track maintenance expenditures and identify cost-saving opportunities. Approve invoices and ensure proper documentation of all maintenance activities. Prepare regular reports on maintenance costs, activities, and performance metrics.
Compliance and Safety
- Ensure all facilities meet applicable building codes, safety regulations, and company standards. Coordinate required inspections, certifications, and regulatory filings. Implement and monitor safety protocols across all locations. Investigate incidents and implement corrective measures to prevent recurrence.
Asset and Systems Management
- Maintain accurate records of equipment, systems, and maintenance history using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS). Develop and update preventive maintenance schedules for critical building systems. Recommend capital improvements and equipment replacements based on condition assessments. Track warranty information and ensure timely claim submissions.
Qualifications Required:

Bachelor's degree in facilities management, engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience

Minimum 5-7 years of facilities maintenance experience with at least 3 years in a supervisory role

Proven track record managing maintenance operations across multiple locations

Valid driver's license and ability to travel extensively (50-75% travel required)

Strong technical knowledge of building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems

Experience with CMMS software and Microsoft Office Suite

Excellent organizational and time management skills

Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
Preferred

Professional certifications such as Certified Facility Manager (CFM), Facility Management Professional (FMP), or equivalent

Experience in commercial real estate or corporate facilities environment

Knowledge of sustainability practices and energy management

Experience managing unionized or non-unionized maintenance teams

- This position requires extensive travel between branch locations within the assigned territory. Candidate must be comfortable with regular driving and overnight travel as needed. Work may occasionally require evening or weekend hours to address urgent maintenance issues or coordinate with branch operations. Physical requirements include ability to walk facilities, climb ladders, and inspect equipment in various environmental conditions.
