
Sr Scientist, Lab Operations

Job Summary:
Serve as a technical specialist supporting regulated laboratory operations by executing and improving LC-MS/MS analytical procedures, leading investigations, and driving continuous process improvements. Provide hands-on troubleshooting, training, and documentation support to ensure high-quality, compliant, and scalable assay delivery.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Perform and document analytical procedures accurately and on time in accordance with SOPs and regulatory guidelines
- Conduct routine and moderately complex data analysis to confirm procedures are performing within expected tolerances
- Identify, document, and escalate unusual results or potential performance errors to senior laboratory personnel
- Lead routine quality investigations including root cause analysis, CAPA assignment/completion, and effectiveness verification
- Provide in-lab troubleshooting to reduce rework by resolving equipment issues and data anomalies in real time
- Deliver hands-on training for new and existing employees and author training manuals for new equipment and processes, including multiplexing workflows
- Oversee technology transfer of methods and SOPs and collaborate cross-functionally to ensure assays are sustainable and scalable
- Review laboratory metrics to identify and lead process improvement initiatives, including defining additional metrics such as cost savings
What We Are Looking For:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience (Some CAP/CLIA lab locations may require a BSc in in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science, medical laboratory technology or cytotechnology.)
- Typically requires >5 years experience in relevant discipline; >4 years of experience in a regulated laboratory
- Hands-on experience operating and maintaining triple quadrupole mass spectrometers (e.g., Sciex API 6500/6500+/7500) including routine maintenance, calibration troubleshooting, and investigating non-linear standard curves
- Hands-on experience setting up and operating HPLC/UPLC systems (e.g., Shimadzu Nexera, Agilent, Waters) including gradient optimization, column selection, and mobile phase preparation (pH and buffer selection) to improve retention, peak shape, and response
- Other Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be accepted in lieu of degree
The Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Needed for This Role:
- Strong working knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements and GDP/GLP-style documentation expectations in a regulated laboratory environment
- Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, including structured root cause analysis and method/assay performance evaluation using tools such as Sciex OS software
- Excellent communication, organization, and “everyday leadership” skills with the ability to train others, author/review SOPs, and support client audits as an in-lab technical resource

The potential base pay range for this role, when annualized, is $58,800.00 - $122,500.00. The actual base pay offered may vary based on a number of factors including job-related qualifications such as knowledge, skills, education, and experience; location; and/or schedule (full or part-time). Dependent on the position offered, incentive plans, bonuses, and/or other forms of compensation may be offered, in addition to a range of health and welfare and/or other benefits.
