You will lead and mentor developers, ensure high-quality and well-documented delivery, and partner closely with service owners, process owners, and cross-functional teams.

In this role, you will design and implement complex workflows and integrations, ensuring seamless configuration, performance, and optimization of the Service Now instance. You will drive solution design, lead requirements sessions, perform code reviews, deliver demos, present at Change Control Boards, and oversee deployments.

This position requires deep expertise in Service Now architecture, third-party integrations, and full SDLC execution—from initial development through implementation. The ideal candidate brings strong problem-solving skills, a hands-on approach, and a proven ability to enhance platform performance in complex enterprise environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect, design, and implement scalable Service Now solutions aligned with business requirements and platform best practices.
  • Lead development lifecycle end-to-end, including requirements gathering, solution design, configuration, customization, and deployment.
  • Develop and optimize workflows, service requests, business rules, UI policies, automations, and integrations using Flow Designer, Integration Hub, and scripting.
  • Integrate Service Now with enterprise systems (e.g., Workday, ERP, HRIS, project tools) using REST/SOAP APIs, MID Server, JDBC, and other technologies.
  • Ensure platform performance, security, compliance, and governance, including monitoring health and usage.
  • Lead platform upgrades, patches, module rollouts, and custom application development across ITSM, HRSD, and other modules.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to developers; conduct code reviews and enforce coding standards and architectural guidelines.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve platform issues, perform performance tuning, and support capacity planning.
  • Maintain data quality and integrations, including data loads, transformations, and maintenance across connected systems.
  • Participate in Agile development, analyzing requirements and user stories to deliver high-quality, iterative enhancements.
  • Create technical documentation, requirements definitions, specifications, and provide stakeholder training as needed.
  • Support governance and change processes, including demos, CCB presentations, and release planning.
  • Stay current with Service Now releases and recommend enhancements to maximize platform capability.

Qualifications:

To be successful in this role you'll have:

12+ years of Service Now development and architecture experience, including leading end-to-end solution design and mentoring developers.

  • Deep expertise across major Service Now suites (ITSM, ITOM, HRSD, CMDB, SPM) and building scoped/custom applications.
  • Strong proficiency in JavaScript, Glide API, Business Rules, Client Scripts, UI Policies, Script Includes, Flow Designer, Integration Hub, Service Portal, and platform scripting.
  • Expert experience integrating Service Now with enterprise systems using REST/SOAP, MID Server, JDBC, and modern API frameworks.
  • Proven track record in platform performance tuning, CMDB/data modeling, Discovery/Service Mapping, and maintaining instance governance.
  • Experience with Service Portal development using AngularJS, HTML, CSS, and Bootstrap is a plus.
  • Knowledge of MID Server, LDAP, SSO, OAuth, and Web Services integration.
  • Experience in Service Now Scoped Applications and Custom App Development.
  • Strong understanding of upgrade strategies, security models, access controls, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience applying AI or automation to workflows, insights, or decision-making, with ability to evaluate emerging platform capabilities.
  • Skilled in Agile/Scrum and Dev Sec Ops practices with excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management.
  • Service Now certifications: CSA (Certified System Administrator) and CAD (Certified Application Developer) required;
  • Nice to have CIS (ITSM/ITOM/HRSD/SPM), Advanced Admin, or Architect certifications preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
