About the role
We are looking for a creative internal communications content writer and editor to join our team. The ideal candidate will create and edit content for employee emails, newsletters, presentations, blogs/articles, program descriptions, and the intranet (and other internal channels). This person is self-motivated and tech-savvy, and can deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced environment. They will partner with writers, designers, and stakeholders to develop and curate compelling, engaging employee communications.
To succeed in this role, the candidate must be proactive, self-motivated, creative, resilient, tech-savvy, and detail-oriented. They should have experience developing and editing content, along with strong communication and organizational skills. They must follow organizational guidelines and apply audience insights when creating content.
Content Writer Responsibilities:
- Write, edit, and proofread employee communications (emails, newsletters, presentations, intranet articles, and program updates) to meet agreed timelines and quality standards (clear, concise, and audience-appropriate).
- Rewrite and polish stakeholder-drafted content with responsive turnaround and tight version control, aligning on feedback cycles and approvals.
- Ensure content accuracy and compliance with the internal style guide by using an editing checklist and securing required stakeholder sign-offs before publish.
- Maintain and update intranet pages, and pitch, publish, and distribute stories across internal channels with reliable cadence and on-time execution.
- Conduct research and gather inputs from subject-matter experts, documenting sources and decisions to support accurate, audit-ready content.
- Maintain a single source of truth for content libraries and templates by keeping assets organized, current, and easy to reuse.
- Create strong headlines and key messages using plain language and consistent tone to increase comprehension and action.
- Represent internal communications in meetings and deliver pre-, during-, and post-event communications on schedule, coordinating with owners and logistics as needed.
- Partner with designers to deliver clear, accessible, and user-friendly communications, completing basic accessibility and usability checks before release.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to align on objectives, briefs, and feedback, consolidating inputs to reduce rework and re-approvals.
- Manage multiple priorities using a clear intake and prioritization process, meeting agreed SLAs and escalating risks early.
- Identify employee and stakeholder needs and recommend content approaches using feedback and available engagement insights.
Day-to-Day (What Success Looks Like):
- Most days balance writing and editing core employee communications with stakeholder alignment, publishing across internal channels, and maintaining governance so messages are timely, accurate, and consistent.
- Review the daily intake queue, clarify the brief, confirm the audience and channel, and prioritize requests against SLAs and key business moments.
- Draft and edit emails, intranet stories, newsletters, and leadership materials, shaping a clear narrative and strong calls to action.
- Run quality checks (style guide, inclusive/plain language, accessibility basics, and factual accuracy) and route content for timely reviews and approvals.
- Publish and distribute content through the intranet/Share Point and email, ensuring version control and keeping libraries/templates current.
- Partner with designers and program owners to refine layouts, integrate visuals, and prepare pre-/during-/post communications for internal events and campaigns.
- Track engagement signals and qualitative feedback, capture learnings, and adjust upcoming content and cadences to improve effectiveness.
