
Senior Consultant - Solution Design
About the role
The Retail Consultant will be a key member of the Retail IS Practice Team, responsible for presales solution design, practice delivery, and client engagement across retail merchandising, category management, and retail operations. This role demands deep domain expertise, strategic thinking, and the ability to deliver innovative solutions that enhance client maturity and operational excellence.
Beyond presales, the consultant will own the transition phase post-deal closure, including contract setup, hiring, process transition, and stabilization, before handing over to the operations team for steady-state delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Presales & Solution Design
- Develop and present solutions for merchandising, category management, and retail operations.
- Define transformation roadmaps and articulate value propositions to clients.
- Contribute retail domain expertise to RFP/RFI responses, creating compelling proposals aligned with client challenges.
- Develop presentations, POVs, and operating models for client discussions.
- Competitive and Market Analysis
- Create market intelligence on retail industry processes, trends, and benchmarks.
- Client Engagement
- Build strong relationships with client stakeholders.
- Provide thought leadership and best practices to advance client maturity.
- Practice Delivery & Transition
- Post-deal closure, lead contractual activities including Statements of Work (SOW) and support MSA creation.
- Drive resource planning, hiring, and team setup for new engagements.
- Oversee knowledge transfer, transition planning, and process stabilization before handover to operations.
- External Awareness
- Promote the Retail IS practice capabilities through industry forums, client interactions, and thought leadership papers.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Retail Management, or related field
- 12–15 years of experience in Retail domain, with proven track record in presales and solution design.
- Familiarity with industry tools and platforms for retail analytics and operations.
Education: MBA
