Illumina’s AI Center of Excellence is seeking a passionate and results driven Technical Project Manager to deliver world class innovative solutions across the enterprise. In this critical role, you will serve as the main conduit between Product Strategy and Engineering Execution. Your focus will be on managing technical delivery risks, effective project planning, and resolving inter-team dependencies to ensure timely project delivery. You will leverage your deep understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) to facilitate high-quality and valuable outcomes for our customers. Note: This position does not involve direct engineering management responsibilities.
This is an India-based role and candidates must be willing to work in a hybrid work setting with a few days per week in the office.
Position Responsibilities:
- Lead the planning and execution of multiple large-scale product and technology projects, collaborating with executive sponsors and management to meet project objectives.
- Ensure all projects are delivered on time, within budget, and maintain a high standard of quality through effective day-to-day operations management.
- Work closely with stakeholders to proactively identify and mitigate project risks, regularly updating the risk register and communication strategies to ensure timely, clear project information.'
- Foster strong relationships with stakeholders to understand their needs and the impact of project decisions on customers.
- Perform other related duties as requested to support project success.
Preferred Experience/Education/Skills:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Management Information Science, or a closely related field.
- Preferred Master's Degree in Business Administration or Management Information Science.
- 3+ years in Project Management.
- 3+ years delivering business solutions using information technology.
- Hands-on experience in a development role (Software Engineer, Data Engineer, or similar).
- Experience managing projects that utilize AI and cloud platforms (e.g., GCP, AWS).
- Strong leadership and conflict resolution skills.
- A proven ability to build cohesive teams with diverse skill sets.
- Technical literacy in system architecture; capable of discussing technical documents, sequence diagrams, and API specifications.
- Proficiency in addressing non-functional requirements, such as performance, scalability, and security.
- Demonstrated aptitude for identifying, mitigating, and resolving complex cross-team dependencies and architectural challenges.
• Customer-focused with a knack for anticipating needs and fostering collaboration among stakeholders.
- Adept at navigating through change and managing ambiguity.
- Skilled in strategic planning to manage scope, resources, and budgets for multiple ongoing projects.
- Excellent communication skills; able to present complex information clearly to various audience levels.
- Assertive leader with a proactive problem-solving approach to overcome obstacles.
- Strong interpersonal skills with experience in conflict resolution.
- A passionate leader committed to driving successful project outcomes.
- Proven ability to influence changes and negotiate solutions effectively.
- Capability to guide others in managing smaller projects while mentoring less experienced team members.
LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
