Technical Sales Specialist, Indirect Markets – Europe Central
Remote role based in any of our European entities: including Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands
As a Technical Sales Specialist here at Illumina in Europe Central, you will play a key role in driving adoption of Illumina’s library preparation solutions across indirect markets. You will guide customers across the full NGS workflow from sample preparation to data interpretation, ensuring rapid implementation and strong customer experience. You will work closely with Channel Partners, Partner Account Managers, Sales Specialists and Product teams. This role focuses on pre‑sales technical expertise, supporting customers and partners, and helping accelerate the use of Illumina’s sample‑to‑answer solutions. In this role, you will demonstrate Illumina’s value of Make Customers Heroes by anticipating needs and enabling customer success.

WHY YOU
You bring strong scientific expertise in sequencing and library preparation, ideally across areas such as DNA, RNA, scRNA, spatial, methylation or proteomics. You may have a PhD in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Chemistry or Biochemistry, or an MSc with relevant laboratory experience. You have experience supporting customers in a technical or field‑based environment and are comfortable travelling up to 60 percent across the region. You communicate clearly in English, with additional languages such as Polish or Czech considered an advantage. You enjoy partnering with others, take ownership of outcomes and thrive in solution‑based customer environments.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE
Technical Expertise and Pre‑Sales Support
- Provide expert consultation across the NGS workflow from sample preparation to data analysis
- Support customers with assay design, application guidance and data interpretation
- Deliver workflow demonstrations, presentations and pre‑sales technical discussions
Channel Partner Collaboration:
- Partner with Channel Partners, PAMs and Sales Specialists to drive library prep adoption
- Train Channel Partners, PAMs, DSMs and ISAMs on Illumina solutions
- Contribute to strategic territory planning
Customer Success and Workflow Adoption:
- Guide customers through project scoping and planning
- Support assay design and use of Design Studio, including reviewing or creating designs
- Monitor consumables usage trends and take corrective action when needed
Market Engagement and Field Insights:
- Represent Illumina at conferences, tradeshows and workshops
- Provide field insights and competitive feedback to leadership and Product Management
- Support new product launches and discontinuation activities
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Sales, Service and Support teams to ensure seamless customer experience
- Escalate technical issues to the appropriate Technical Support teams
