Illumina’s Clinical Solutions organization is seeking a Vice President of Product Management to lead the product strategy and roadmap to drive growth for our clinical solutions business. This executive will oversee a multi‑product portfolio including platforms, consumables and software to deliver integrated solutions and workflows that empower clinical laboratories and healthcare systems worldwide. This role will report to the VP & GM of Global Clinical Solutions.
The ideal candidate for is role is a business‑minded strategic product leader who thrives at the intersection of genomics and clinical workflows in a scaling business. The VP will shape Illumina’s next generation of clinical solutions, ensuring that our products deliver exceptional clinical utility, user experience, and market impact.
Key Responsibilities
Portfolio & Product Strategy

Direct the development of market requirements, product strategy, and long‑term portfolio vision for Illumina’s clinical solutions.

Oversee end‑to‑end lifecycle management, including roadmap development, requirements definition, and launch readiness across assays, platforms, and clinical software.

Assess market trends, customer workflows, regulatory expectations, and clinical utility needs to guide prioritization and investment decisions for the portfolio.

Drive customer insights as input to innovation and new product introductions, working closely with R&D and product development teams to partner through the development process.
Commercial & Market Leadership
-
Working cross functionally with Sales, Marketing, Market Access and Medical Affairs, execute high‑impact go‑to‑market strategies, enabling adoption and expansion in clinical labs and health systems.

Lead pricing strategies, value proposition development, and product positioning across global clinical markets globally.

Guide competitive analysis and market segmentation to strengthen Illumina’s clinical leadership to best position the portfolio and solutions.
Organizational & Operational Leadership
-
Lead and develop a high‑performing Product Management organization, including Directors and Product Managers responsible for multiple product lines and workflows.

Work cross functionally in a matrix to develop and launch new products and solutions, working closely with R&D, Regulatory Affairs, Quality, Operations and Medical Affairs and Market Access.

Evaluate and develop product management operating mechanisms, processes and structures to be able to deliver growth and for scale.

Provide enterprise‑level leadership—shaping policy, influencing executive decisions, and aligning stakeholders around common goals.
Executive Communication & Enterprise Impact

Operate as a key member of Illumina’s Clinical Solutions Leadership Team, representing product strategy and ensuring alignment cross-functionally to deliver on Clinical Solutions business objectives.

Present product strategy, business cases, and portfolio recommendations to executive leadership with clarity and conviction.

Make decisions with broad organizational impact; guide teams through complex, high‑stakes initiatives.
Qualifications
-
Minimum 20 years related experience. 5 or more years of executive or senior‑level leadership experience preferred.

Demonstrated success managing a portfolio of clinical, diagnostic and/or life sciences products across varying maturity stages.

Experience driving commercial strategy, P&L performance, pricing, and competitive positioning in clinical, diagnostic, life sciences or regulated markets.

Deep understanding of the healthcare ecosystem, including clinicians, lab directors, health systems, payers, and regulatory landscapes.

Strong strategic, analytical, and communication skills; proven ability to influence at the executive level.

Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or advanced scientific/clinical degree strongly preferred.
The estimated base salary range for the Vice President, Product Management- Clinical Solutions role based in the United States of America is: $278,800 - $418,200. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range may be updated accordingly. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
