In this role, you'll work in one of our IBM Consulting Future Now Centers, where we deliver deep technical and industry expertise to a wide range of public and private sector clients around the world. Our delivery centers offer our clients locally based skills and technical expertise to drive innovation and adoption of new technology.
Your role and responsibilities
As an Associate Service Now Developer, you will support the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of solutions on the Service Now platform. Working alongside experienced team members and clients, you will help translate business requirements into technical solutions, support integrations, and contribute to the delivery of scalable and maintainable applications. This is an entry-level opportunity for recent graduates who bring strong technical fundamentals, curiosity, and a willingness to learn enterprise platforms in a team-based environment.
Your primary responsibilities will include:
Support Service Now Solution Development: Assist in designing, developing, configuring, and implementing solutions on the Service Now platform to support business and operational needs.
Collaborate on Requirements and Solution Design: Work with clients and internal teams to understand business requirements and help translate them into technical designs and platform configurations.
Contribute to Integrations: Support the development and maintenance of integrations with third-party systems using APIs, web services, and standard integration methods.
Develop and Configure Platform Functionality: Write and maintain scripts and queries, including JavaScript and SQL, to extend and support Service Now functionality.
Support Testing and Troubleshooting: Assist with system testing, troubleshooting, debugging, and deployment activities to help ensure reliable and smooth solution delivery.
Contribute to Reusable Components and Best Practices: Help create reusable components, documentation, and development best practices to improve consistency and efficiency across solutions.
Stay Current with Platform Enhancements: Build knowledge of Service Now product releases, features, and enhancements, and help assess how they may benefit clients.
Required education
Bachelor's Degree
Required technical and professional expertise
Graduated in the last 24 months (MBA not accepted)
Agentic and Generative AI: Experience using Generative AI and agentic AI tools to support software development, documentation, workflow automation, and knowledge retrieval. Ability to apply these tools responsibly with appropriate attention to accuracy, validation of outputs, data privacy, security, and human oversight.
Programming and Scripting Fundamentals: Knowledge of software development fundamentals and experience with JavaScript, SQL, or similar programming/scripting languages through coursework, internships, projects, or early professional experience.
Application Development Fundamentals: Understanding of core software development concepts such as object-oriented programming, debugging, testing, version control, and basic software design principles.
Web and Integration Fundamentals: Familiarity with APIs, web services, REST/SOAP, JSON, and XML, and an understanding of how enterprise systems exchange data.
Platform and Workflow Interest: Interest in learning and supporting Service Now platform development, configuration, workflows, forms, and automation. Prior Service Now experience is helpful but not required.
Problem-Solving and Analytical Skills: Demonstrated ability to analyze technical problems, troubleshoot issues, and contribute to practical solutions in a structured team environment.
Testing and Support Mindset: Understanding of testing, defect resolution, root cause analysis, and production support fundamentals with a focus on reliability and maintainability.
Communication and Collaboration: Ability to communicate clearly, document technical work effectively, and collaborate with developers, analysts, and business stakeholders.
Learning Agility: Curiosity and willingness to learn enterprise platforms, development tools, and business processes quickly in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred technical and professional experience
Exposure to Service Now through coursework, certifications, internships, lab work, or academic projects.
Familiarity with IT Service Management (ITSM) concepts such as incident, problem, change, request, or asset management.
Experience with JavaScript, SQL, HTML, CSS, or related web technologies.
Exposure to workflow automation, low-code/no-code platforms, or enterprise application configuration.
Familiarity with Agile development practices, software development lifecycle concepts, or DevOps-related ways of working.
Understanding of cloud platforms or SaaS application concepts.
