Facilitates backlog refinement, sprint planning, and PI planning with Release Train Engineers, Scrum Masters, and development teams. Writes and owns product requirements through delivery. This is not a Project Manager or technical role. The position centers on product strategy, stakeholder collaboration, and Agile delivery within a Medicaid environment

The Senior Product Owner maximizes the value of products delivered by Agile teams. This role is business-focused, serving as the bridge between stakeholders and development teams to ensure the right product is built, in the right order, and aligned with business goals.

You will report to an Associate Director and be a part of the Migration Project team. This role will be part of an Agile Scrum team responsible for migrating existing trading partners from a vendor-managed system to a Humana-owned rules engine platform.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Acts as the Agile team’s primary contact for work prioritization,decision-making, and product direction
  • Collaborates with stakeholders to define and refine product requirements and priorities
  • Facilitates Agile ceremonies including backlog refinement,sprint planning, and PI planning
  • Monitors product performance and addresses production environment issues
  • Communicates timely updates and insights to functional leaders
  • Identifies product gaps and opportunities for improvement
  • Begins to influence departmental strategy through product insights
  • Makes decisions on product direction—not technical implementation

Important Note:

This role does not involve project management duties such as scheduling, budgeting, or resource allocation. It also does not require technical development skills. The focus is on product ownership,business value, and Agile collaboration.

Use your skills to make an impact Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience facilitating backlog refinement, sprint planning, and PI planning in partnership with Release Train Engineers, Scrum Masters, and SIT/UAT testing teams
  • 5+ years of experience working within Agile frameworks (Scrum, SAFe, Kanban), with deep expertise in backlog prioritization for one or more Agile teams
  • 5+ years of experience leveraging tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, and testing platforms to support Agile delivery and execution
  • 5+ years of experience translating complex business requirements into clear, actionable user stories and acceptance criteria, ensuring alignment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Lean Certified / Six Sigma
  • Experience in Encounter Data Submissions
  • Experience in Medicare/Medicaid products
  • CAS
  • X12
  • SQL

Travel: While this is a remote position, occasional travel to Humana's offices for training or meetings may be required.

Pay Range

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.

$94,900 - $130,500 per year

This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
