Description -

As the Head of Technology – Defence Vertical for Europe the successful candidate will have responsibility for the technology strategy of the Defence sector with specific focus on enabling joint operational commands and supporting organizations. This role requires a seasoned technology and business leader with deep knowledge of the whole product and service value elements that drive mission success for allied military member states, and subsequently profitable growth for HP. This leader will manage senior / executive-level relationships to enable client transformations utilizing HP’s technology solutions. Primary job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Executive Thought Leadership / Business Development: Serves as a compelling and highly visible thought leader to raise the profile of HP technology portfolio and overall stature with the various military organizations and the whole Defence sector at large within the European Market. Partners with Sales / Business Development to drive strategic pursuit and help win significant business opportunities. Drives net new business growth and contract wins in year 1 of being in role.

  • Strategic Partnerships: Partners with Sales / Business Development to manage technical content of strategic partnerships to advance initiatives of strategic importance. Alliances can include Global Alliance, Channel, Vendor or other entities.

  • Customer Insight: Orchestrates, unifies and communicates deep expertise regarding client technical requirements. Takes this ‘outside-in’ perspective and drives back through the organization and, in particular, into the development of the company’s technical solutions. Ability to translate HP technology capability to mission-relevant outcomes for our Defence sector customers.

  • Technology Leadership: Directs an extended indirect team that is responsible for driving technology leadership related to the creation of an advanced solutions portfolio tuned to the defence mission set of member states (e.g., Edge IT Solution Workflows, Hardened End Points, Secure Supply Chains, Digital Experience Platform capabilities and Mobility solutions). Align a broad set of functional stakeholders including Sales, Marketing/Comms, Government Affairs, Category, and Global Business Units (GBUs) directly and via Global COE. Drives consolidated end-to-end business planning and strategy across the European leadership teams and key stakeholders to develop a living and highly relevant technology Plan of Record for the Defence sector. Acts as an expert providing direction and guidance to technology solution process improvements and establishing relevant policies and procedures to strengthen our ongoing innovation capability.

  • Compliance: Supports the design, development, and implementation of technology solutions that are fully compliant with various statutes, policies and regulations that include the following: security requirements, data sovereignty requirements, procurement regulations, and contract-specific regulations. Ensures careful attention to HP's legal, ethical and business conduct policies in all work performed.

  • Provides flexible, results-oriented leadership to get things done quickly, efficiently and effectively - balanced against business performance.

  • Will provide sector specific mentoring and guidance to senior Market leaders.

  • Successfully operates in complex disciplines to drive business outcomes.

Qualifications/Key Capabilities Desired:

  • Deep understanding of and technical expertise in:

  • Defence IT infrastructure and secure hardware

  • Cybersecurity and information assurance in military contexts

  • Secure networking, cloud, and hybrid architectures

  • Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance (C4ISR)

  • Familiarity with European theatre interoperability standards, secure communications protocols, and defence procurement frameworks.

  • Must possess experience with managing complex technology portfolio management and product generation processes.

  • Must have exposure to European military acquisition regulations and procurement concepts.

  • Must be viewed as a highly credible and accessible thought leader who is consistently sought out as a key advisor both internally and externally.

  • Must possess, or be able to obtain, a relevant security clearance level in the course of client engagements, as required.

  • Experience leading geographically & functionally diverse teams with exceptional employee engagement and satisfaction scores.

  • Results-oriented/driver; self-starter, independent leader willing to take risks and make decisions.

  • Excellent conflict resolution skills.

  • Excellent communication planning & execution to various levels of stakeholders, up through CxO.

  • Excellent presentation design & delivery skills.

  • Excellent teamwork building skills - able to get results through influence.

  • Masters degree or equivalent experience preferred. Educational background in a technical or business field preferred.

  • Ten plus years minimum related experience preferred, showing a progression of relevant experience in both technology and business leadership.

  • Preferred location for this role is Brussels but we will consider candidates with strong background from other Western European countries.
