YOU MUST HAVE:

  • Qualified applicants must have a PhD or foreign equivalent in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field and 3 years of experience in Technology Development.

  • In the alternative, the employer will accept a Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field and 6 years of experience in Technology Development.

  • Must have full term of experience with the following: strong understanding of chemical engineering fundamentals and application in process, catalyst and/or adsorbent, solvent or cryogenic based technology development; experimental background with experience in Flue Gas treatment using Solvent, adsorbent, cryogenic or membrane-based process; experience in developing and executing experimental plans including the use of statistical tools for data analysis; knowledge of Six Sigma concepts and their application in managing risk and uncertainty; ability to develop & deliver high impact presentations both internally and externally including effectively managing the customer interface; proficiency in developing networks & building relationships.

  • Up to 20% domestic and international travel required.

  • Salary: $188,910/year

  • 40 hours/week

Lead R&D Engineer/Scientist for UOP LLC (Des Plaines, IL)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Dedicated to fast-tracking the development and commercialization of innovative Clean Hydrogen and Carbon Capture technologies to satisfy the growing customer demand for decarbonization solutions.

  • Take the lead in developing pioneering technologies while also creating integrated solutions that leverage UOP’s Hydrogen and Gas Processing technology portfolio.

  • Collaborate with partner technologies and integrate developments from other Honeywell businesses.

  • Lead and drive New Product Development (NPD) programs featuring large cross-functional teams charged with developing complex integrated technology solutions.

  • Build SME talent pipeline in key technology areas to achieve our goals in the Clean Hydrogen, Carbon Capture and Gas Processing platforms. This includes process, new materials and Solvent development focused on delivering total solutions to customers.

  • Leverage and promote Z21 and project management best practices to meet technology delivery commitments on schedule and within budget constraints.

  • Lead and/or guide pilot plant experimentation and drive model-based design of experiments (MBDOE) approach to accelerate technology delivery and identify innovation opportunities.

  • Engage with business colleagues to build effective technology development for both sustaining existing business lines and growth strategies.

  • Build awareness of the competition and monitor new developments and lead projects to bridge gaps in the relevant technology areas.

  • Provide support to sales and sales support organizations to ensure technology offering maximize customer value delivery as well as Honeywell value capture.

  • Provide support for key customer first engagements as requested by the business.

  • Identify novel solutions and author invention disclosures to contribute to the innovation effort at Honeywell UOP.

  • Act as a local and global mentor for the less experienced scientists / engineers.
