About the role

The Stability Equipment Engineer at Honda will work closely with manufacturing and engineering teams to identify and analyse equipment or process downtime, develop root cause analyses, and implement countermeasures. Responsibilities include supporting reliability and stability initiatives, providing technical support for complex issues, and contributing to the improvement of regional production systems. The role requires a bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering (or equivalent experience), 0–2 years of technical or engineering experience in manufacturing, and proficiency in automated equipment hardware and software, including PLC and HMI. Strong communication skills and the ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, are essential. Occasional travel (domestic and international) may be required. The Stability Equipment Engineer at Honda plays a vital role in supporting the Genpo Manufacturing Equipment Services Department and Engineering Group to address and resolve equipment or process downtime. This position is responsible for identifying root causes of critical issues, developing countermeasures, and providing technical support for complex problem analysis. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to improve reliability, standardisation, and production systems, while also supporting new technology introductions. Job Purpose

Working with the Plant (aka Genpo) Manufacturing Equipment Services Department (MESD) leadership team and Engineering Group, identify chronic or critical equipment or process downtime items. Identify priority trouble items and develop root cause analysis with countermeasure and recurrence prevention actions. Share within the Equipment Reliability & Stability (ERS) team for horizontal reflection. Provide input and technical application support towards improved standardization of regional production systems. Provide emergency technical support for complex problem analysis and countermeasure as required. Assist Frame Manufacturing Characteristics (FMC) and Equipment Production (EPD) associates by providing feedback/support on equipment related trouble due to spec, design, and install. Work with Equipment Production (EPD) associates to coordinate assembly and install of countermeasure activity. Based on Genpo results, identify concerns and provide potential countermeasures to improve reliability centered spec, design, and installation activity. Develop improvement themes working within the Equipment Reliability & Stability (ERS) team for North American regional improvement.

Key Accountabilities

  • Support in the identification of chronic downtime root cause and countermeasure in specialized area. Communicate issues to Equipment Reliability & Stability (ERS) leadership for regional distribution.
  • Analyze current manufacturing characteristics and summarize results in comparison to achievement
    of equipment or process related Genpo targets.
  • Provide input for improved reliability for new Equipment specification requirements based on current
    struggle items.
  • Prepare reports of results and execute Plan, Do, Check, Act (PDCA).
  • Conduct Key Performance Indicator gap analysis and countermeasure activity development.
    Support new technology introduction as needed.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

Minimum Educational Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (concentration in Manufacturing a
    plus) or related equivalent experience

Minimum Experience:

  • 0-2 years of technical/engineering work experience in Manufacturing (focus in specialized
    area a plus)

Other Job-Specific Skills:

  • Working knowledge of automated equipment electrical hardware/software design, including
    knowledge of machine safety controls, servo position control, field Input/Output (I/O) networking, Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), and
  • Human-Machine Interface (HMI)
  • Application of engineering and manufacturing principles
  • In-depth understanding of machining processes.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Strong verbal and written skills to communicate effectively both with customers and internal
    project teams

Working Conditions

  • Flexible Work Hours & Schedule if needed
  • Ability to Travel, both domestic and international (<10%) travel to manufacturing and vendors sites
  • 5-15 hours of OT per week
  • Weekend and holiday work may be required
