Experience: 5+ Years as a Director of Sales in a full-service operation – Airport and Hilton Experience is a Big Plus

Education: Bachelor of Science/Arts Degree or work experience equivalent

We are looking for someone special and that maybe you! The Doubletree by Hilton Hotel at JFK Airport is searching for a Director of Sales & Marketing that brings a love of hospitality, aggressive sales capabilities and the desire to continue to grow a career in hotel sales. The position will report to the hotel’s General Manager and will be responsible for group rooms, transient rooms, airline crew and catering sales production as well as the overall marketing and merchandising effort for the property.

Below is an outline of the incremental position responsibilities.

Principle Duties & Responsibilities

  • Maintain and direct the group room, catering, reservations and administrative staffs.
  • Recruit and train new members of the above staffs as required through turn-over.
  • Develop the annual hotel marketing plan and the revenue areas of the annual budget.
  • Yield group room rates through the CRM to maximize revenue and profitability (Delphi).
  • Yield banquet meeting space to maximize occupancy, revenue and profitability.
  • Work with the area Revenue Manager on the overall yielding of sleeping room revenues.
  • Personally, manage the annual National Negotiated account request for proposal process.
  • Oversee the management of the annual Local Negotiated rate request for proposal process.
  • Provide accurate periodic reports to Executive Management as required on a timely basis.
  • Manage all divisional vendors to ensure maximum performance and billing accuracy.
  • Maintain the Advertising & Promotions budget to maximum effectiveness and budgetary levels.
  • Perform recurrent and annual performance reviews for all staff within the division.
  • Work with sales managers on the maintenance of major accounts to ensure service levels and year-to-year revenue growth.
  • Manage all lead sources directing incremental leads to the proper market segment sales managers.
  • Review and hold accountable all sales managers for the achievement of all sales goals including solicitation, revenue generation and profitability.
  • Manage all hotel marketing assets to ensure quality and reasonable updating periods.
  • Provide to Executive Level personnel accurate and timely forecasting of divisional revenues.
  • Ensure the accuracy of all client and vendor agreements and update as required.
  • Review all divisional contracts to ensure proper quoting, blocking and general accuracy.
  • Represent the hotel as an “ambassador” within the community to include industry organizations.
  • Direct the effective and accurate use of the hotel’s CRM and other applications.
  • Work as an active member of hotel committees including the executive and staff committees.
  • Perform recurrent SWOT analyses of the competitive set and utilize various measurement applications (STR, Hotelligence) to ensure a maximum Rev Par index.
  • Ensure the accuracy and quality of content within all 3rd party applications and websites.
  • Communicate and provide required information to brand representatives as requested.
  • Produce and direct various asset development activities including photo and video shoots.

Other Skills & Attributes

· Sound knowledge of inter-departmental communications and operational delivery.

· Ability to effectively communicate in friendly and positive manner with internal and external constituents.

· Ability to communicate customer needs and resolve complaints.

· Professionally represent the hotel in community and industry organizations and events.

· Participate as team player with other key executive members.

· Provide constructive feedback to all departments and to hotel sales and marketing staff.

· Be a leader and role model to all employees.

· Sales ability and skill in both oral and written form.

· Mathematical aptitude beneficial.

· Personal computer knowledge desirable (Sales Pro, Delphi, Microsoft Word, Excel, PMS).

· Use/knowledge of Hilton applications including R&I, OnQ, PEP and GRO a positive.

· Ability to establish and master goals.

· Ability to identify and develop accounts.

· Additional language skills desirable.
