Position: General Manager
Property: Hampton by Hilton Accra Airport – 170 Rooms
Location: Accra, Ghana
Reports to: Ownership / Board
Direct Reports: Operations Manager, Head Chef, Engineering Manager, Finance/Admin, Sales & Marketing (direct or dotted line)
Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Position Summary
The General Manager (GM) is the senior executive responsible for the overall leadership, financial performance, brand compliance, and long-term success of the Hampton by Hilton Accra Airport.
While the Operations Manager leads the Rooms Division and day-to-day service execution, the GM retains full accountability for hotel performance, with a particular focus on Food & Beverage results, commercial performance, cost control, people leadership, and Hilton/ownership governance.
The GM is the primary interface with Hilton, ownership, and key external stakeholders, and acts as the custodian of the asset and the Hilton brand.
Key Responsibilities
1.
Overall Leadership & Governance:
- Provide strong, visible leadership to the hotel leadership team and all associates.
- Set and maintain a culture of service excellence, integrity, accountability, and performance.
- Ensure full compliance with:
- Hilton brand standards, audits, and franchise requirements;
- Ghanaian legal and regulatory obligations;
- Health, safety, fire life safety, and security standards;
- IFC / ESMS / OHS / GBVH frameworks where applicable.
- Serve as the primary point of contact with Hilton, ownership, auditors, and key partners.
2. Financial & Commercial Performance (P&L Ownership)
- Full responsibility for the hotel’s Profit & Loss (P&L).
- Prepare, manage, and control:
- Annual operating budgets;
- Forecasts and reforecasts;
- Cost-control and productivity strategies.
- Drive profitability through disciplined expense management, operational efficiency, and revenue optimisation.
- Approve operational and capital expenditures within delegated authority.
3. Food & Beverage Leadership (Key Focus)
- Provide direct leadership and strategic oversight of the Food & Beverage operation, including the breakfast concept and any limited F&B offerings.
- Lead and manage the Head Chef, ensuring:
- Compliance with Hampton brand standards;
- Strong food quality, consistency, and hygiene;
- Effective food cost control, waste management, and margin optimisation;
- Proper kitchen staffing, training, and discipline.
- Ensure F&B contributes positively to guest satisfaction scores and overall hotel profitability.
4. Oversight of Rooms & Operations (via Operations Manager)
- Provide direction, coaching, and oversight to the Operations Manager.
- Ensure Rooms Division performance meets or exceeds Hilton benchmarks for:
- Guest satisfaction (SALT, QA);
- Service delivery;
- Operational efficiency.
- Support escalation, mitigation, and resolution of operational risks.
- Maintain clear accountability while avoiding operational duplication.

People Leadership & Talent Development:
- Lead, coach, and evaluate Heads of Department.
- Ensure effective recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and retention of key talent.
- Build leadership capability, succession planning, and a strong service culture across the hotel.
- Address disciplinary matters and staff relations in line with company policy and Ghanaian law.

Guest Experience & Reputation:
- Take ultimate responsibility for guest satisfaction, service recovery, and online reputation.
- Personally manage critical guest issues and escalations when required.
- Ensure the Hampton brand promise is consistently delivered across all touchpoints.
7.
Risk Management & Compliance:
- Ensure readiness for Hilton audits, quality assurance inspections, and brand reviews.
- Ensure compliance with:
- ESMS, grievance mechanisms, and whistleblowing frameworks;
- Health & safety, food safety, and fire life safety requirements.
- Ensure risks are properly identified, documented, escalated, and mitigated.
👤 Candidate Profile
Experience & Background
- Minimum 8–10 years of senior hotel management experience.
- Proven experience as:
- General Manager, or
- Hotel Manager / Operations Director in branded hotels.
- Prior experience with Hilton or comparable international brands strongly preferred.
- Pre-opening hotel experience preferred.

The General Manager is the leader of the business, the guardian of the Hilton brand, and the custodian of the asset. With a strong Operations Manager driving Rooms Division execution, the GM is empowered to focus on financial performance, Food & Beverage excellence, people leadership, and long-term sustainability of the Hampton by Hilton Accra Airport.
