Exceptional Hospitality Starts With You

The Director of Finance is an integral part of the leadership structure within the hotel, providing support and technical expertise to other members of the team. This role is responsible for all accounting and financial requirements for the hotel in an environment of tight control. He / she will provide financial support, advice and expertise to the General Manager and hotel team, with the aim of maximizing value, developing the quality of the Finance function within the hotel.

Here’s what you’ll do during a typical day:

Financial Accounting & Control

  • Manage hotel accounting records and reports in compliance with statutory, corporate, and owner requirements.
  • Ensure accuracy and reconciliation of balance sheet and accounts.
  • Maintain effective internal controls over assets, liabilities, revenue, and costs.
  • Ensure compliance with management, lease, and legal agreements.
  • Safeguard contracts, permits, and licenses, and oversee audits and corrective actions.

Management Reporting

  • Deliver timely, accurate, and action-driven financial reports.
  • Use KPIs, benchmarking, and scorecards to drive performance analysis and decision-making.
  • Ensure all internal and external reports reconcile and are supported by documentation.

Business Support

  • Advise GM and leadership team on financial performance and commercial initiatives.
  • Evaluate business proposals and support major decisions with financial insights.

Systems & IT

  • Optimize financial systems and data integrity.
  • Collaborate with IT to enhance reporting, processing, and efficiency.
  • Ensure system security, maintenance, and issue resolution.

Strategic Planning & Forecasting

  • Support strategic hotel planning with financial insight.
  • Lead budget and forecast cycles, identifying trends and risks.
  • Provide forward-looking analysis and ensure clear communication of business outlooks.

People Development

  • Ensure performance management, succession planning, and employee engagement.
  • Promote financial literacy across departments.

Cash & Working Capital Management

  • Minimize working capital and optimize cash flow.
  • Oversee bank reconciliations, cash forecasts, and credit control processes.
  • Review AR with Commercial Director and maintain reserves for doubtful debts.

Cost Management

  • Analyze cost drivers and identify efficiency opportunities.
  • Benchmark costs and ensure value-for-money purchasing.
  • Lead by example in maintaining a cost-effective finance operation.

In addition, this role requires the following minimum qualifications:

A Director of Finance is always working on behalf of our Guests and working with other Team Members. To successfully fill this role, you should maintain the attitude, behaviours, skills, and values that follow:

  • University qualification and above.
  • Finance / Accounting major and certified, e.g. ACCA/ CPA.
  • 5 years in hotel accounting with at least 2 years in similar position with an international hotel.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
