WGAL-TV, the NBC affiliate serving the Lancaster-Lebanon-Harrisburg-York, PA market, is seeking a Part-Time Photojournalist/Editor who is passionate about impactful, multi-platform storytelling through compelling visual media.

We are looking for a self-motivated, creative storyteller who can capture the essence of what’s happening in the field and deliver it seamlessly across broadcast, digital, and social platforms. The ideal candidate understands how audiences consume content differently on television, mobile, and social media—and can adapt storytelling styles seamlessly.

This role would require field shooting, editing, and executing live shots, while also producing content optimized for linear TV, station websites/apps, and social platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube.

The winning candidate is tech-savvy, forward-thinking, and fluent in modern newsgathering tools and formats. You must be able to shoot with Sony XDCAM or similar ENG cameras, as well as mobile-first tools like i Phone, gimbals and emerging digital formats, with editing in Adobe Premiere or comparable platforms.

Familiarity with ENG, SNG, and cellular “backpacks” (TVU, LiveU, etc.) for live transmission and file transfer is essential.

Strong editing skills, excellent time management, clear communication, and a sharp editorial eye are critical. A commitment to high journalistic standards and visual excellence is a must. If you’re quick-thinking, adaptable, and thrive in a fast-paced, multi-platform newsroom, we want to hear from you.

This position reports to the Chief Photographer.

Responsibilities

  • Shoot and edit VOs, VO-SOTs, and packages for broadcast, digital, and streaming platforms
  • Create and adapt content for multi-platform distribution, including TV, web, app, and social media
  • Serve as show editor, cutting and attaching video content into a newscast rundown (ENPS proficiency is a bonus)
  • Produce vertical and mobile-first video optimized for platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts
  • Collaborate with the Assignment Desk, reporters, and producers to cover stories and meet deadlines
  • Work with producers to bring editorial vision to life through strong visuals, sequencing, and natural sound
  • Identify opportunities for real-time social content and behind-the-scenes storytelling in the field
  • Ensure all content meets journalistic, ethical, and brand standards across platforms

Requirements

  • Experience with non-linear editing systems (Adobe Premiere preferred)
  • Understanding of multi-platform storytelling, including broadcast and social/digital video formats
  • Previous newsroom experience preferred; military experience strongly considered
  • Ability to carry up to 50 pounds of equipment
  • Comfortable working in all weather conditions
  • Valid driver’s license with a strong driving record; ability to operate large vehicles
  • Proficiency with mobile journalism tools and emerging video technologies
  • Strong organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and make quick editorial decisions
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • A proactive, self-starter mindset with a “go-getter” attitude
  • Equivalent military training (DINFOS) and related experience highly valued
  • In-person attendance is required
