The Express-News seeks a summer audience intern on our digital team to report, write and produce content aimed at engaging our online audiences in novel ways. The internship offers an excellent learning opportunity for someone interested in a career in digital journalism.

This internship is paid through the Stanford Rebele Internship Program. To be eligible, candidates must be current Stanford University students.

Title: Audience intern

What will you do?

You will write, produce and package articles built within Hearst Newspapers’ content management system. You will also utilize Hearsts’ extensive library of interactive web pages to produce visually engaging journalism, including quizzes, visual essays, top lists and guides.

A secondary focus of the internship entails audience production tasks, such as sending app push notifications, composing targeted email alerts and newsletters, and creating and publishing social media posts.

A candidate suited for this role will have experience meeting tight deadlines and turning around daily news stories as well as a keen eye for what engages digital audiences.

No coding experience is necessary.
