About the role

Point of contact for managing Disaster Recovery operations for Client’s On-premise and Cloud IT Infrastructure. It includes coordinating all onsite and offshore team delivery tasks. Work with various Clients’ business units to assess their needs and ensures that the Information Technology Disaster Recovery Plan supports their respective business recovery plans by performing business impact analyses and establishing recovery time objectives. Work closely with Client engineering team to prioritize urgent recovery requests on required basis. Work with Client engineering team to successfully design and implement new Disaster Recovery solutions as per industry standards. Develop, update and maintain Client’s Information Technology Disaster Recovery Plan and associated procedures. Perform regular upgrades on SAN, Backup and DR related infrastructure as a part of IT release management. Participate in regular Client IT Change Management meetings to review Disaster Recovery related work planned for future. Work with Client to Setup, configure and monitor Replication between Storage arrays at Protected and Recovery sites across all Client Data Centers. Do critical incident and problem management to help mitigate critical IT related issues in the Data Centers especially in a Disaster Recovery situation. Create and review application-based recovery plans using tools provided by Storage, Network, IT hardware and cloud vendors like HPE, EMC, AWS/AZURE and VMware. Perform regular test exercise in the On-premise and Public Cloud environment by working with respective applications owners and Technical Domain owners. Regularly update business recovery objectives into Client’s Information Technology Disaster Recovery Plan. Collect and organize information about current systems to create an inventory of systems and application, with hardware, software, and network requirements, as well as inter-system dependencies clearly identified for DR purposes. Work on Automation of DR environment in Merck by leveraging tools like Veritas, VRA, etc. Identify technical solutions to improve recovery time of applications during DR scenario. Define the principles, policies and procedures necessary to support or reconstitute essential business functions after a catastrophic event. Develop programs of business impact assessment, compliance, training, testing and exercising, technical assessment and plan development. Implement DR policies through DR arrangements such as regular data backups; secure data archival; backup restoration; secure on- and off-site storage of backup media; provision of alternative IT processing facilities, networks etc. Evaluate the overall IT DRP program and state of readiness of IT in relation to BRP and broader CP requirements. Solution for DR Table top exercise. Drive the Datacenter transformation for building DR environment for critical production systems. Part with Steering Committee to define the DR yearly schedules. Part with BIA (Business Impact Analysis) team to perform the classification analysis for all the applications deployed in the environment. Work under the platform of ITIL, with handling Incident Management, Change Management and Problem Management.

SKILLS REQUIRED:
