About the role

Job Summary

The Polarion Administrator is responsible for the installation, configuration, customization, and maintenance of the Siemens Polarion ALM platform. This role ensures system stability, performance, user enablement, and alignment with business processes across engineering, quality, and compliance domains.

Key Responsibilities

1.

System Administration & Maintenance:

  • Install, configure, and upgrade Polarion ALM environments (on-prem / cloud)

  • Manage system health, monitoring, and performance tuning

  • Perform backups, disaster recovery setup, and restoration drills

  • Ensure high availability and system uptime

2.

User & Access Management:

  • Manage users, roles, and permission schemes

  • Configure LDAP / Active Directory integration

  • Implement role-based access control (RBAC) aligned with governance policies

3.

Configuration & Customization:

  • Configure projects, workflows, document templates, and work item types

  • Customize forms, fields, scripts, and workflows using Polarion SDK/APIs

  • Develop and maintain Live Docs templates and reuse models

  • Configure dashboards, reports, and traceability matrices

4. Integration Management

  • Integrate Polarion with enterprise tools such as:

Teamcenter / PLM systems

  • Jira / Azure DevOps

  • Test automation tools (e.g., Selenium, Tosca)

  • Maintain and troubleshoot integration interfaces (REST APIs, webhooks)

Data Management & Migration:

  • Handle data import/export, migration from legacy systems

  • Maintain data integrity, versioning, and audit trails

  • Optimize repository structure and storage

Compliance & Traceability:

  • Ensure ALM processes support standards such as:

ISO 26262

  • ASPICE

  • FDA / IEC compliance

  • Configure end-to-end traceability across requirements, test cases, and defects

7. Performance Optimization

  • Monitor database and repository performance (SVN backend)

  • Optimize queries, indexing, and load times

  • Conduct periodic capacity planning

Support & Troubleshooting:

  • Provide L2/L3 support for Polarion-related issues

  • Diagnose and resolve system errors, performance bottlenecks

  • Coordinate with Siemens support when required

Automation & Scripting:

  • Develop scripts for task automation (Groovy, Java, REST APIs)

  • Automate reporting, user provisioning, and routine admin tasks

10.

Documentation & Training:

  • Maintain system documentation, SOPs, and admin guides

  • Conduct training sessions for users and project teams

  • Support onboarding of new projects/users onto Polarion

Skill Requirements

Technical Skills

  • Strong experience in Siemens Polarion ALM administration

  • Knowledge of:

Java, Groovy scripting

  • REST APIs

  • SQL/Database concepts

  • Experience with:

Linux/Windows servers

  • SVN repositories

  • Apache/Tomcat configurations

ALM & Domain Knowledge

  • Understanding of:

Requirements management

  • Test management

  • Defect lifecycle

  • Familiarity with regulated industries (Automotive, Medical, Aerospace)

Integration Skills

  • Experience integrating Polarion with:

PLM tools (Teamcenter preferred)

  • DevOps / CI-CD tools
