Job Summary

Role Summary:

The SAP GTS Senior Functional Consultant is responsible for leading functional design, configuration, and deployment of SAP Global Trade Services solutions. The role focuses on trade compliance, customs, and export control processes, ensuring regulatory adherence while enabling smooth business operations across global trade landscapes.

Key Responsibilities:

Functional Design & Configuration:

Lead and perform SAP GTS functional configuration across key areas:
Sanctioned Party List (SPL) Screening
Embargo Management
Legal Control / Export Control
Customs Management

Preference Processing & FTAs:

Translate business trade‑compliance requirements into SAP GTS functional designs
Create functional specifications for custom developments and integrations

Integration & Process Alignment:

Integrate SAP GTS with:

SAP ECC or S/4HANA
SD, MM, TM, EWM modules
External screening and customs systems (where applicable)
Manage master data alignment:
Business Partners
Material classifications
Tariff codes and export control classifications

Implementation & Support:

Participate in end‑to‑end implementations, rollouts, and upgrades
Support data migration, cutover planning, and go‑live activities
Conduct and support:
Unit testing
Integration testing
User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
Provide production support and resolve trade‑compliance related incidents

Compliance & Regulatory Expertise:

Ensure SAP GTS setup complies with:
Export regulations (EAR, ITAR, EU Dual‑Use)
Customs regulations and local country laws
Trade sanctions and embargoes (OFAC, EU, UN)
Work closely with compliance and legal teams to manage regulatory changes
Support audits and internal/external compliance reviews
Stakeholder Collaboration
Interact with business users, global trade teams, and compliance officers
Coordinate with technical, Basis, and integration teams
Guide junior consultants and offshore teams
Participate actively in design reviews and solution discussions

Required Skills & Experience:

SAP & Functional Skills:

Strong expertise in SAP GTS (Classic and/or GTS for S/4HANA)
Hands‑on configuration experience in:
SPL screening & simulation
Export control processes
Customs declarations & reporting
Preference determination
Solid understanding of SAP SD/MM logistics processes
Experience working with IDocs and SAP integration concepts

Business Domain Knowledge:

International trade compliance and export/import processes
Customs valuation, duty calculation, and trade documentation
Knowledge of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) and preference management

Soft Skills:

Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities
Good communication and stakeholder‑management skills
Ability to work independently in complex environments
Experience working in global delivery or multicultural teams

Preferred Qualifications:

SAP GTS Certification:

Experience with S/4HANA transformation programs
Exposure to multi‑country or global rollout implementations
Prior consulting experience is a plus

Key Responsibilities

1. To be responsible for providing technical guidance to a team of developers, enhancing their technical capabilities and increasing productivity.
2. To conduct comprehensive code reviews, establish and oversee quality assurance processes, performance optimization , implementation of best practices and coding standards to ensure successful delivery of complex projects.
3. To ensure process compliance in the assigned module| and participate in technical discussions/review as a technical consultant for feasibility study (technical alternatives, best packages, supporting architecture best practices, technical risks, breakdown into components, estimations).
4. To collaborate with stakeholders to define project scope, objectives, deliverables and accordingly prepare and submit status reports for minimizing exposure & closure of escalations.
