Key Responsibilities
Job Responsibilities : System Architecture & Deployment: Design and build AIX-based environments, including the configuration of Logical Partitions (LPARs) and virtualized environments using PowerVM and Virtual I/O Servers (VIOS). Maintenance & Patching: Perform operating system installations, upgrades (e.g., AIX 7.1 to 7.2+), and security patching to ensure systems remain supported and secure. Virtualization Management: Use the Hardware Management Console (HMC) to manage resources, move workloads via Live Partition Mobility (LPM), and configure virtual resources like Shared Ethernet Adapters (SEA). Performance Tuning: Monitor system health using tools like nmon, topas, and sar to identify bottlenecks in CPU, memory, and I/O, then apply kernel or subsystem tuning. Disaster Recovery (DR): Develop and test DR strategies, manage backups using tools like Network Installation Manager (NIM), mksysb, or IBM Spectrum Protect (Tivoli), and ensure business continuity.
