Job Summary

Palo Alto Firewalls & Fortinet VPN (ZINA) – Management & Monitoring (L2) Job Description Role Summary The L2 Network Security Engineer is responsible for managing and monitoring Palo Alto Firewalls and Fortinet VPN (ZINA) infrastructure. The role focuses on advanced troubleshooting, security policy management, incident handling, and ensuring 24x7 availability, performance, and security compliance of network security systems. Key Responsibilities • Perform L2 monitoring and management of Palo Alto firewalls and Fortinet VPN (ZINA) infrastructure • Analyze and resolve firewall and VPN-related incidents, alerts, and connectivity issues • Implement and manage firewall security policies, NAT rules, and access control configurations • Monitor VPN tunnels (IPSec/SSL), troubleshoot connectivity and performance issues • Ensure adherence to SLA/KPI for incident response and resolution • Perform log analysis using tools like Palo Alto Panorama, Forti Analyzer, and SIEM systems • Handle change requests related to firewall rules, VPN access, and security configurations • Collaborate with L3/network/security teams for complex troubleshooting and RCA • Maintain documentation of configurations, SOPs, and standard processes • Support compliance audits and ensure adherence to security policies and standards Required Skills • Strong understanding of network security concepts (Firewall, VPN, NAT, IPSec, SSL VPN) • Hands-on experience with Palo Alto firewalls (PAN-OS, Panorama) • Experience with Fortinet VPN solutions (Forti Gate, ZINA) • Knowledge of routing and switching (TCP/IP, VLAN, DNS) • Familiarity with ITIL processes (Incident, Problem, Change Management) • Experience with ticketing tools (Service Now, Remedy) • Ability to analyze logs and troubleshoot security incidents • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Preferred Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field • Certifications: PCNSE, NSE4/NSE5, CCNA Security • Experience in 24x7 NOC/SOC environment • Exposure to SIEM tools (Splunk, QRadar) and security monitoring Key KPIs • Mean Time to Detect (MTTD) • Mean Time to Resolve (MTTR) • Firewall/VPN uptime and availability • SLA compliance for incidents • Change success rate (%) • Reduction in repeat incidents Tools & Technologies • Firewall: Palo Alto (PAN-OS, Panorama) • VPN: Fortinet (Forti Gate, ZINA) • Monitoring & SIEM: Splunk, QRadar, Solar Winds • ITSM: Service Now, Remedy • Networking: Cisco, WAN/LAN technologies.
