Job Summary
AS400 - L1 - Batch Operations
Key Responsibilities
Job Monitoring: Actively monitor job queues, subsystem activity, and job status (e.g., active, held, message wait) using command line or monitoring tools like Robot Schedule or IBM BRMS. Batch Processing: Execute and verify scheduled daily, weekly, and monthly batch jobs (e.g., data transfers, file updates, reports) according to job procedures. Message Handling: Monitor system console for messages (MSGW), providing standard responses or escalating to L2/applications teams. Troubleshooting & Rerunning: Identify failed jobs (Job log analysis), perform manual reruns, and manage job dependencies. System Maintenance: Perform routine system tasks such as backups and IPLs (Initial Program Loads).
Skill Requirements
AS/400 Operations: Strong familiarity with IBM i commands (WRKJOB, WRKJOBQ, WRKSBS, DSPJOBLOG).Batch Scheduling Tools: Experience with scheduling software such as Robot/SCHEDULE, Cron, or IBM Job Scheduler. Technical Familiarity: Understanding of CL (Command Language) programs, library management, and spooled file handling. Support & Documentation: Proven experience in L1 technical support, shift rotation (24x7), and ITIL incident management.
