AIX Administrator - IBM AIX, Power HA

Job Summary

The L2 AIX Administrator is responsible for administering, supporting, and troubleshooting IBM AIX systems in production environments. The role involves handling incident management, system maintenance, performance monitoring, and supporting upgrades/patching activities while ensuring high availability and compliance with SLAs.

Key Responsibilities

: Provide Level‑2 support for IBM AIX servers in production and non‑production environments\r\n Monitor system health, performance, CPU, memory, disk, and file systems\r\n Handle incident, problem, and change management as per ITIL processes\r\n Perform user administration, access management, and security configurations\r\n Execute AIX OS installation, configuration, patching, and upgrades (TL/SP)\r\n Manage LVM activities (VG/LV/FS creation, extension, mirroring)\r\n Support system reboots, migrations, and hardware refresh activities\r\n Troubleshoot system, application, and performance-related issues\r\n Coordinate with L3 teams, vendors, and application teams for complex issues\r\n Maintain operational documentation, SOPs, and runbooks\r\n Participate in on-call/shift support as required\r\n Ensure compliance with security, audit, and operational standards

Skill Requirements

Strong experience with IBM AIX administration (v7.x preferred)\r\n Hands-on knowledge of:\r\n\r\nLVM (VG, LV, FS)\r\nNIM (Network Installation Manager) – basic to intermediate\r\n System startup/shutdown, logs, dumps, and error analysis\r\n\r\n\r\n Good understanding of patching, backups, and recovery\r\n Experience with performance tuning and monitoring tools\r\n Exposure to PowerVM / LPAR management\r\n Basic scripting knowledge (Shell scripting preferred)\r\n Familiarity with enterprise monitoring and ticketing tools

Other Requirements

Knowledge of VIO server concepts\r\n Experience working in 24×7 production support environments\r\n Understanding of ITIL processes\r\n Exposure to automation or configuration management tools is a plus
