Senior Design Lead - Allegro PCB

Job Summary

Role Overview:

The Tier‑1 ECAD Support Engineer (Cadence) provides first‑line support for Cadence electronic design tools used by electrical and PCB design engineers. The role focuses on user access, installation, licensing, environment setup, and basic tool usage support, ensuring smooth onboarding and minimal disruption to engineering productivity. Issues beyond Tier‑1 scope are escalated to Tier‑2/Tier‑3 teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as first point of contact for Cadence ECAD tool issues

• Support Cadence tools such as OrCAD Capture, Allegro PCB Designer, and related modules

• Resolve common Tier‑1 issues:

• Tool launch failures and environment setup

• License checkout and FlexLM errors

• Basic schematic and PCB layout “how‑to” questions

• Install and configure approved Cadence versions, templates, and user profiles

• Support basic ECAD data management / vault connectivity

• Assist in new user onboarding (Day‑1 readiness)

• Log, track, and update incidents using ITSM tool (Jira)

• Escalate advanced issues (performance, automation, libraries) per defined process

• Required Skills & Experience

• Strong knowledge with the Operating systems Windows, Linux and Mac OS.

• Hands‑on experience with Cadence ECAD tools (OrCAD / Allegro)

• Working experience with Perforce tools management Environment

• Understanding of Schematic capture, PCB layout fundamentals, Basic constraint management etc.

• Familiarity with ECAD libraries (symbols, footprints)

• Basic knowledge of Cadence licensing (FlexLM)

• Strong troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills

Education:

• 1- 4 years of experience IT Support / Cadence ECAD tools or electronic design teams

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical / Electronics Engineering or related field (or equivalent hands‑on ECAD support experience)

1. Apply Advanced Proficiency In Allegro Pcb To Define And Implement Best Practices For Pcb Design, Ensuring That Products Are User-Friendly, Intuitive, And Meet User Expectations.

2. Lead And Mentor A Team Of Designers, Providing Strategic Guidance To Facilitate The Delivery Of Innovative And High-Quality Design Solutions That Align With Business Objectives.

3. Present And Advocate For Design Concepts, Actively Contributing To The Development And Execution Of The Overall Design Vision And Strategy.

4. Conduct Thorough Research On Industry Trends And Emerging Technologies In Pcb Design To Foster A Culture Of Innovation And Excellence Within The Design Teams.

Skill Requirements

1. Advanced Proficiency In Allegro Pcb For Pcb Layout And Design.

2. Strong Knowledge Of Cad Software For 2D And 3D Design Applications.

3. In-Depth Understanding Of Design Principles And Methodologies.

4. Excellent Leadership And Team Management Skills.

5. Strong Communication And Presentation Abilities To Effectively Convey Design Concepts.
