Senior Technical Lead

Job Summary

We are looking for a highly skilled Lead/Architect Data Engineer who can take ownership of both **Business-as-Usual (BAU)**data engineering activities (ticket handling, troubleshooting, and support) while also driving data model optimization and standardization across our analytics ecosystem. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in modern data engineering tools and best practices, with the ability to transform our current messy and redundant data models into a clean, reusable, and scalable framework.Responsibilities· Lead and manage day-to-day BAU activities including incident resolution, data pipeline monitoring, and handling support tickets.· Review, maintain, and optimize existing dbt models(currently 500+ models) to improve performance, scalability, and reusability.· Design and implement clean, reusable, and standardized data models to support critical reporting and analytics requirements.· Collaborate with stakeholders to understand reporting/analytics needs and translate them into optimized data solutions.· Drive best practices for data modeling, governance, and documentation to ensure consistency and maintainability.· Mentor and guide junior data engineers in building efficient, well-structured dbt models.· Continuously evaluate and improve ETL/ELT processes and workflows for efficiency and cost-effectiveness.· Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and performance across Big Query, dbt, and downstream tools (Thought Spot, Power BI, etc.).

Key Responsibilities

Required Skills & Experience· 8–12 years of experience in data engineering, with at least 2+ years in a lead or senior role.· Strong expertise in SQL and Big Query with a deep understanding of performance tuning and query optimization.· Hands-on experience with dbt(data modeling at scale, macros, testing, refactoring).· Experience working with Fivetran for data ingestion and tracking.· Familiarity with Thought Spot or similar BI/analytics platforms.· Strong understanding of data warehousing, data pipelines, and ELT frameworks.· Experience in GCP ecosystem and best practices for cost optimization.· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, balancing BAU activities with long-term optimization projects.· Excellent communication and leadership skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and lead data engineering initiatives.
