About the role

Job Summary

Responsibilities:

  • PostgreSQL

  • Adhering to SLAs.

  • Mentoring / Training Team Members.

  • Handling tickets / requests.

  • Perform root cause analysis.

  • Troubleshooting technical issues.

  • Creating SOP/MOP's and ensuring that the processes are adhered to.

  • Oversees and is responsible for successful completion of database tasks.

  • Responsible for maintaining customer database standards.

  • Responsible for strategizing a backup plan and test plan for failure scenario.

  • Improves and maintains customer satisfaction.

  • Suggests Database environment Gaps, Improvements and new technologies.

  • Monitoring and maintaining SLA requirements by the team members.

  • Identify Skill gaps and plan for training / knowledge updating.

  • Escalating P1/P2 to L3/Customer to maintain SLA’s.

Technical Requirements:

  • Proficient in managing EDB PostgreSQL databases HADR and replication - installation, configuration, upgrade, patching, maintenance, security, sysadmin functions and administration.

  • Proficient in managing PostgreSQL DR Replication - installation, configuration, upgrade, patching, maintenance, DR Drills

  • Knowledge of PEM Postgre

S Enterprise Manager:

  • Managing, Configuring, setting up alerts and troubleshooting

  • Maintain Database Standards and Architecture

  • Install, Configure new Postgresql database software’s.

  • Configure new database – HADR, Replication as per the customer standards.

  • Apply database Patches and bugfixes.

  • Upgrade databases as per the customer roadmap.

  • Testing and Impact Analysis for Database Migration/Upgrade

  • Technical Consultation to L1 and Customer

  • Vendor Support and Interaction

  • Monitor database environment – Availability, security, capacity and performance.

  • Troubleshoot database issues, maintain database systems availability and scalability.

  • Performs the capacity planning required to create and maintain the databases.

  • Work closely with Server, Backup and storage administrator to meet Backup, Hardware, Storage and Operating system requirements.

  • Work closely customer to understand the requirements and standards.

  • Perform ongoing analysis and tuning of the Postgresql database.

  • Application code promotion and migrations of programs, database changes, reference data changes and menu changes through the development life cycle if applicable.

  • Performs database re-organizations as required to assist performance and ensure maximum uptime of the database.

  • Troubleshoots with problems regarding the databases, replication and database related Tools.

  • Good knowledge of physical database design.

  • Ability to perform database and operating system performance monitoring and the necessary adjustments.

  • Excellent skill in High availability, replication technologies and failover

  • Implement and enforce security requirements for Postgresql databases.

  • Recommend and Review Backup and Recovery Strategies.

  • Provides technical support to application development teams.

  • Having experience of DR/Replication Solution/Implementation/Execution through various sync methods.

  • Good knowledge of the Unix operating system(s)

  • Generate DB reports for RCA related to Incident Management

  • Analyze DB performance reports and provide analysis.

  • Generate DB reports for Audit/Compliance exercises.

  • Weekly review of incidents/tickets

  • Weekly review of CHGs completed/Canceled.

  • Weekly review of recommendations made to the DBs.

  • Automate routine DB jobs.

  • Optimize day-today DB activities.

  • Documentation and DB procedures write-up

  • Oracle knowledge is added advantage.

Key Responsibilities

Key responsibilities: Oracle DB

  • Use considerable technical expertise and judgement to define and implement technical database solutions that support the business needs.

  • Provide optimization and design skills, including deployment and support in the oracle database systems both on-premise and cloud.

  • Provisioning and administration of oracle in cloud

  • OCI, Azure, AWS.

  • Refine / Develop database strategies and capacity planning.

  • Ensure database system desired performance and security baselines are met as per business need.

  • Ensure HA / DR database environments are operational and consistent as per business requirements.

  • Perform housekeeping tasks to maintain the database environment.

  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in work practices.

  • Participate in after-hours changes and patching.

  • Provide strategic input to design and quality assurance of database technology solutions.

  • Confer with systems users to develop areas of change in requirements, which permit greater efficiency, systems integration, or cost reduction.

  • Provide effective and efficient database system support to customers meeting all ticket / requests / Change SLAs.

  • Assist application support teams with performance tuning and troubleshooting.

  • Contribute to the creation of technical strategies.

  • Continually evaluate working practices and procedures to help the implementation of cost-effective database methodologies.

Provide strategic inputs / advice on end to end Database Solutions for Technology projects.

  • Research and drive long term database strategies and solutions.

  • Availability for out of hours scheduled work such as change implementation and Disaster Recovery tests.

  • Liaison with customers and vendors.

  • Provide consultancy to other technical and project teams regarding technical issues pertaining to database environments.

  • Develop and maintain installation, configuration and maintenance policies and standards

  • Participate in disk space management.

  • Execution of major and minor database work requests.

Skill Requirements

Oracle DB
Experience in setting up the OCI foundation for the project to start.

  • Worked on setting on Oracle Cloud Resources VCN, Subnet, Compute, Block Storage, File Storage.

  • Good experience in multiple databases offering in OCI like Autonomous DB, DBCS, ExaCS, ExaCC.

  • Good experience with various method of migrating database from On-Premise to Oracle Cloud with minimum downtime.

  • Good experience with various method of migrating database from other cloud to Oracle Cloud with minimum downtime.

  • Experience in network connectivity from Oracle Cloud to On-Premises.

  • Experience in network connectivity between Oracle cloud and AWS/Azure cloud.

  • Experience in Setting up necessary policies, groups, compartments and domains (IAM)

  • Experience in creating and managing users, groups and policies.

  • knowledge of OCI security best practices. OCI governance and compliance

  • Experience in logical segregation of resources using compartment at different level.

  • Expertise of implementing environment hardening at different level.

  • Experience in configuring and optimizing compartments / tags / policies to manage cost effective OCI usage; Identify under- & over- utilized resources.

  • Experience in capacity planning, space management, database upgrades/migration

  • Experience in Logical and Physical Design of Databases for OLTP and Data Warehouse.

  • Expertise in handling Very Large Database (VLDB) and OLTP environment

  • Expertise in Performance tuning. Optimize OCI resources for cost-efficiency and performance

  • Experience in Oracle 12c, 19c – Installation and implementation

  • Expert in ORACLE Database Administration including planning/implementing backup/recovery strategies

  • Experience Installing and Managing RAC environment for Day-to-Day Database administrator.

  • Implement OCI Monitoring solutions for various applications and OCI resources

  • Knowledge of Terraform, Ansible, or shell scripting for Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation.
