About the job
As a Third Party Data Center (3PDC) Area Operations Manager, you will manage a team that is deeply involved in nearly every aspect of colocation operations of our critical infrastructure supporting our internal and external customers. You will partner with Google Data Center Engineering, Engineering Field Service, Network Infrastructure and third party data center vendors and operators with a focus on operability, maintainability and reliability. In this role, you will be responsible to ensure your team is the advocate of the operations organization, and be responsible to ensure operability, maintainability and reliability are critical criteria for Google assets.
The Data Center team designs and operates some of the most sophisticated electrical and HVAC systems in the world. We are a diverse, upbeat, creative, team-oriented group of engineers committed to building and operating powerful data centers.
Responsibilities

Manage a team of technical operations managers supporting third party data centers across APAC. Support the site selection process through operational and technical knowledge.

Perform operational assessment and risk analysis of third party colocation sites with full accountability. Work with partner teams for supporting new projects to ensure the design and build quality meets the highest availability standard for successful operation.

Ensure successful transition to operations for new facilities in your area/region. Keep key stakeholders informed about current work and discuss strategic decisions and directions with them.

Oversee technical and team leads through the successful completion of required maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair tasks to maintain equipment to our global standards. Support the risk management program by escalating findings to ensure business awareness and provide prompt mitigation strategies.

Travel to APAC 3PDC facilities as needed.
Minimum qualifications
-
Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.

10 years of experience managing technical teams in charge of operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, and controls infrastructure and components.

5 years of experience in a data center or critical facilities environment.

Experience in mentoring or developing managers.
Preferred qualifications
-
Master's degree in Industrial Engineering, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Management, Reliability Engineering or 8 years of data center operations and management experience.

Experience communicating effectively with all levels of the organization, including senior executives.

Direct or indirect people management experience, preferably in the technical field.

Experience in reliability centered maintenance and engineering.
-
Ability to forecast resource requirements in a data-driven way.
