The US base salary range for this full-time position is $128,350 - $181,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Position reports to the Google New Albany, OH office and may allow for a hybrid schedule per Google policy.
Responsibilities
-
Plan and execute the deployment, maintenance, and operation of global IP + Optical networks to ensure reliability and scalability. Monitor network performance proactively, triaging issues, identifying root causes, and orchestrating repairs to maintain uptime.

Deliver end-to-end network capacity by evaluating forecast data and utilizing design standards for migrations and expansions. Develop and maintain comprehensive network documentation, including architectural designs, drawings, and operational plans across all projects.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to lower operational costs, adopt new processes, and improve network software and infrastructure standards.

Lead quality assurance for network installations and direct technical resources to execute project priorities with minimal guidance.

The position requires domestic travel of more than 10% annually. The nature of this travel is focused on supporting project-specific requirements and establishing vital cross-functional team relationships through in-person collaboration and site-level engagement.
Minimum qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Telecommunications Engineering or a related field and 3 years of experience in the job offered or in a Network Implementation-related occupation.

Position requires 1 year of experience in the following:
-
Layer 1 optical transmission systems, including Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM), for system design, architecture, and operation;

TCP/IP protocols for Layer 3 routing and network system design;
-
Wide-Area Networking (WAN) protocols for troubleshooting and deployment;
-
End-to-end system installation or commissioning of DWDM systems and IP routers, including network troubleshooting to resolve service interruptions, including optical troubleshooting in field or lab environments; and
-
New Product Introduction (NPI) processes or network product lifecycle management.
