Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) provides managed Kubernetes clusters on Google Cloud Platform. Its core component, Kubernetes, is an open-source platform for automating deployment, scaling, and operations of application containers across clusters of hosts, providing container-centric infrastructure. Some of the key focus areas of this initiative are to support IP Address Management (IPAM), gateway, unified network policies and enable multi-NIC solutions for kubernetes workloads.

The Kubernetes Networking team is responsible for building networking solutions and networking abstractions for these environments and drive solutions integration and validation efforts collaborating with partners and customers.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement new networking features in the Kubernetes and GKE area.

• Design and develop network virtualization solutions for containers.

• Design and develop AI/ML enablement high-performance networking solutions specifically optimized for large-scale model training, low-latency GPU communication and self-sustaining agentic workloads.

• Help external GKE customers who hit issues in production clusters.

• Engage with the open source community to help shape the direction of networking in Kubernetes.

Minimum qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.

• 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages.

• 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.

Preferred qualifications

• Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.

• 5 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.

• 1 year of experience in a technical leadership role.

• Experience developing accessible technologies.
