The BeyondSQL team is responsible for the core extensibility architecture of Big Query. We bridge the gap between traditional data warehousing and the modern data lake by allowing customers to execute custom logic in the languages and frameworks they prefer.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $207,000-$300,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

• Drive the design and execution of high-performance components within Big Query’s execution engine, including query optimizers and control plane components.

• Improve the price-performance and scale of the engine, ensuring solutions are efficient to operate, easy to maintain, and highly reliable.

• Partner with infrastructure teams (e.g., Colossus, Mind Meld) and product teams to shape the future of the analytics experience.

• Foster a healthy, transparent, and collaborative team culture. Be responsible for recruiting top talent, mentoring executive engineers, and improving team velocity and quality.

Minimum qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

• 8 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript).

• 3 years of experience building and developing large-scale infrastructure or distributed systems.

• 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role, overseeing projects.

• 2 years of experience in a people management, supervision/team leadership role.

Preferred qualifications

• Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.

• 3 years of experience working in a matrixed organization.

• Experience in developing query processing engines for a SQL relational database or large-scale distributed systems.

• Experience in distributed computing.
