Audio is a core modality of Gemini which powers generative AI in Gemini Live, Search, YouTube, Cloud, Maps, Meet, Translate, and more.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $174,000-$252,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

Responsibilities
-
Lead the strategic design and end-to-end execution of long-term projects to advance Gemini Audio capabilities horizontally and scale foundational data infrastructure in a high-impact manner.

Architect and conduct complex experiments by optimizing high-throughput data pipelines and loaders, managing Gemini model training and evaluation cycles, and delivering data-driven insights to inform technical strategy.

Drive the integration of high-impact data enhancements into Gemini’s pre-training and post-training mixtures, ensuring the continuous delivery of high-quality data to improve model performance and capabilities.

Deliver mission-critical initiatives with agility, effectively navigating evolving requirements and time-sensitive deadlines while maintaining high standards of technical excellence and project momentum.
Minimum qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
-
5 years of coding experience in one or more of the following languages: C, C++, Java, or Python.

3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.

3 years of experience with ML infrastructure (e.g., model deployment, model evaluation, optimization, data processing, debugging).
-
1 year of experience with state-of-the-art GenAI techniques (e.g., LLMs, multi-modal, large vision models) or with GenAI-related concepts (language modeling, computer vision).

Work or educational experience in machine learning or artificial intelligence.
Preferred qualifications

Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.

5 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.

3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional or cross-business projects.

Experience developing accessible technologies.
