Regional Cable Operations Lead, Indian Ocean

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.
In this role, you will lead Cable Landing Stations (CLS) and outside plant (OSP) Operations for the Indian Ocean region, overseeing all aspects of the build CLS, consortium-led projects, third-party colocation, and all OSP and infrastructure. You will drive the process, ensuring a transition from build to operations and go-live within Google’s Central Operations.
You will collaborate with key suppliers, consortia partners, telecom providers, customers, as well as internal teams from central operations, networks, finance, and regulatory, you will be responsible for ensuring optimal network availability and reliability. You will also focus on improving infrastructure performance, delivering an exceptional customer experience, and ensuring operational excellence across facilities.

Responsibilities

Manage a third-party field service agreement site-based offering and delivering Technical Operations Managers, facility and Network technicians to support Google Cable Landing Stations (gCLS) across Indian Ocean.

Coordinate reactive maintenance works (PFE, Electrical, Mechanical, HVAC, general facilities) for all CLSs in the APAC region.

Lead all preventative and reactive maintenance activities, run regular inspections and liaison with external parties in case of infrastructure threatening or effecting works.

Keep stakeholders informed about current work and discuss decisions and directions with them. Manage budget, enhance process, continuous improvement and development.

Oversee technical and program team leads through the completion of required maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair tasks to maintain equipment to our global standard.
Minimum qualifications
-
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

8 years of experience in program management.

Experience in operational facilities management services.
Preferred qualifications
-
Master's degree in Industrial Engineering, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Management, Reliability Engineering.

8 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.

Experience operating submarine cables systems including marine maintenance, cable landing station maintenance, and Network Operation Center coordination.

Excellent budget management, agreement negotiation, time management and organizational skills.
