Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

  • 5 years of experience in technical program management, specifically leading the delivery of capital infrastructure projects.

  • 5 years of experience with agreement negotiations and drafting in the infrastructure field, power generation or power infrastructure.

  • 5 years of experience managing vendor relationships and negotiating agreements in power generation or power infrastructure.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent advanced technical certification.

  • Experience with power transmission and distribution, telecommunications infrastructure, data center technology, industrial-class electrical and cooling technology, or other related technical areas.

  • Advanced expertise in utility or ISO/RTO interconnection processes, market rules, and stakeholder governance frameworks.

  • Ability to comfortably work in ambiguous, collaborative, and fast-moving environments.

Google’s Energy and Power team is on a mission to secure a low-cost, clean, and reliable energy supply for our global data center fleet.

As a Technical Program Manager in Grid Code Compliance, you will safeguard the vital power infrastructure that sustains Google's global data center network. You will advocate the lifecycle management of mission-critical power assets, driving project schedules and mitigating risks to ensure delivery remains on time and on budget. By bridging the gap between commercial structuring and operational reality, you will navigate complex agreement negotiations and technical requirements. In this role, you will be high-impact leader capable of orchestrating array of internal stakeholders, from engineering and real estate to legal and finance, managing external consultants to deliver the sustainable energy infrastructure of the future.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $163000 - $237000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + bonus + equity + benefits

Responsibilities

  • Orchestrate end-to-end oversight of power assets developed by third-party partners, ensuring seamless delivery and budget adherence for Google's data centers.

  • Advocate data excellence by developing standardized tools and governance frameworks to ensure transparent portfolio-wide communication and risk mitigation.

  • Monitor and uphold grid code compliance, proactively tracking evolving utility requirements, ISO/RTO protocols, and NERC/IEEE reliability standards.

  • Represent Google in grid operator and utility forums to influence and shape requirements for new large-scale load interconnections.

  • Direct technical compliance assessments and manage internal grid policy tracking processes to support sophisticated dynamic power model development.
