Google's software engineers develop the next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information and one another. In this role, you will be focused on developing autonomous agents to dramatically increase the productivity of development teams working on Android, Chrome, and ChromeOS. You will build and deploy these agents to enhance engineering teams throughout the software development life-cycle, including code generation, planning, reviews, testing, and triaging. You will collaborate with Google's research and other internal teams to create agents tailored to the specific needs of Chrome, ChromeOS, and Android developers, covering everything from the user interface downward.

Note: This role is not about generating or fine tuning models like Gemini, but to apply AI in workflows to speed up development life-cycle.

The Platforms and Devices team encompasses Google's various computing software platforms across environments (desktop, mobile, applications), as well as our first-party devices and services that combine the best of Google AI, software, and hardware. Teams across this area research, design, and develop new technologies to make our user's interaction with computing faster and more seamless, building innovative experiences for our users around the world.

Responsibilities

• Build AI solutions and tools into development workflows and platforms.

• Design, build, and maintain backend services and APIs to support AI-powered features.

• Develop and integrate UI components to surface AI insights and suggestions within developer tools.

• Manage data pipelines to collect, process, and analyse data for model evaluation and metric tracking.

• Contribute to the development of tools and infrastructure that lower the barrier to entry for AI/ML development within the organisation.

Minimum qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.

• 1 year of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript).

• 1 year of experience with full stack development, across back-end such as Java, Python, GO, or C++ codebases, and front-end experience including JavaScript or TypeScript, HTML, CSS or equivalent.

• 1 year of experience with data structures and algorithms.

Preferred qualifications

• Experience using data science or statistical methods to derive insights and solve problems.

• Experience with AI-powered feature development and productisation.

• Experience in production grade LLM-based applications.

• Familiar with LLM technologies.
