About the job

Google's in-house tax team knows all things corporate tax. Made up of smart, perceptive Googlers with a flair for domestic, international, and sales and use tax, the knowledge and expertise of this team runs deep. You have years of experience in this field and an extensive knowledge of those tax issues most relevant to internet companies. While we don't give our Googlers individual tax advice, you make it easy for Googlers to get what they need to make good tax decisions. You find ways to work smarter by streamlining and automating our tax processes and systems, and find ways to be both innovative and compliant.

In this role, you will be providing end-to-end support to the executive members of the Asia-Pacific (APAC) tax team. You will be responsible to support tax optimization, controversy, research, and cross-functional projects for the APAC countries. You will collaborate with tax experts, finance leaders, and various business units and will help to resolve tax positions, support audit requests, and ensure the resolution of tax audits. You will work to optimize efficiency and establish policies that minimize the company's tax exposure.

The name Google came from "googol," a mathematical term for the number 1 followed by 100 zeros. And nobody at Google loves big numbers like the Finance team when providing in depth analysis on all manner of strategic decisions across Google products. From developing forward-thinking analysis to generating management reports to scaling our automated financial processes, the Finance organization is an important partner and advisor to the business.

Responsibilities

  • Support executive tax team members by staying up-to-date of changes in APAC tax laws and regulations, adoption of new tax laws, and assess and communicate their impact on the company's tax position.

  • Support tax audits, develop and implement audit strategies to drive to issue resolution. Develop databases and models and conduct analysis of tax data for audits, compliance, valuation, and due diligence projects.

  • Collaborate with tax, multiple cross-functional teams, and external service providers in resolving tax positions and assist in establishing policies and procedures for tax position analysis and documentation to minimize tax exposure.

Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Law, Accounting, or Finance, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 4 years of experience in tax.

  • Experience in working with corporate tax, transfer pricing, and indirect tax rules within APAC.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience with spreadsheet software including financial modeling, formulas, and working with data.

  • Experience in working with clients in the Technology, Cloud, or Internet sectors.

  • Excellent project management, tax research, and communication skills.
