Equipped with your business acumen and extensive product knowledge, you are right on the front line of interacting with our partners, and helping them find ways to grow using Google's newest product offerings. Your knowledge of relevant verticals and relationships with key industry players will help shape our great applications and content for products such as YouTube, Google TV and Commerce.

Alongside the Learning and Education Product and Go-To-Market teams, our Strategic Partnerships team is at the forefront of this mission, responsible for building the strategy and partnerships required to bring transformative technology to the global education community in a safe and responsible way.

As a Strategic Partner Development Principal Lead, you will oversee partnerships that enable our product roadmap, understand interoperability, and drive the Google for Education business. You will have a focus on read along, Learning Management Systems (LMS) integrations, and teacher adoption programs. Across this set of priorities, you will work with a cross-functional set of stakeholders to build our partnership strategy and guide partnerships that impact the quality of our products and our ability to reach students and teachers globally.

The Global Partnerships organization is responsible for exploring new opportunities with Google's partners. Google’s Global Partnerships team works with a wide range of partners to bring the best of Google to power their business. The Global Partnerships team supports Google’s own Product teams with essential partnerships to help Google’s user experiences in advertising, Search, Assistant, Maps, Travel, Shopping, Payments and more. Teams create product-enabling partnerships, go-to-market strategies and incubate business growth for a variety of products.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $177,000-$256,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

Responsibilities

  • Establish strategic partnerships with 5 lighthouse academic institutions, with the primary objective of driving meaningful adoption of Gemini for teaching, learning, and research.

  • Unify partnership and sales strategies across Gemini for Education, Cloud, Research and other Product Areas to show up as One Google with a compelling narrative to our university partners.

  • Negotiate and close agreement for Artificial Intelligence (AI) Studio, Gemma, and other AI products and services with higher ed partners

  • Serve as a critical voice providing partner feedback to shape the product roadmap and creating the playbook for scaling Gemini adoption and establishing it as the leading AI platform for Higher Education.

  • Develop and nurture a rich ecosystem of Ed Tech partners, including Learning Management Systems (LMS), research organizations, and content providers, to accelerate and embed Gemini adoption across the student and faculty experience.

Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

  • 10 years of experience in partnerships, business development, management consulting or investment banking, with experience in education or education technology.

  • 2 years of experience working in higher education or with higher education institutions in a partnerships, sales or management consulting role.

  • Experience working with C-level executives and cross-functionally across all levels of management.

  • Experience managing agreements or partnerships.

Preferred qualifications

  • Master's degree or other advanced degree.

  • Experience managing partnerships.

  • Understanding of AI.

  • Ability to identify potential business opportunities, assess financial/business benefit, structure agreements, and discuss terms with strategic partners.

  • Excellent communication and influencing skills.
