About the job

A problem isn’t truly solved until it’s solved for all. That’s why Googlers build products that help create opportunities for everyone, whether down the street or across the globe. As a Program Manager at Google, you’ll lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish — working with stakeholders to plan requirements, manage project schedules, identify risks, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. Your projects will often span offices, time zones, and hemispheres. It's your job to coordinate the players and keep them up to date on progress and deadlines.

The Central Fleet team within CSCO is responsible for optimal fulfillment and transformation of Google’s fleet by balancing and shaping demand intent from our product areas, owning deployment decisions for new technology, and driving supply capability across datacenters, networking, and machines.

Behind everything our users see online is the architecture built by the Technical Infrastructure team to keep it running. From developing and maintaining our data centers to building the next generation of Google platforms, we make Google's product portfolio possible. We're proud to be our engineers' engineers and love voiding warranties by taking things apart so we can rebuild them. We keep our networks up and running, ensuring our users have the best and fastest experience possible.

Responsibilities

  • Drive ongoing initiatives to optimize central fleet’s deployed infrastructure by orchestrating processes to reconfigure hardware, shift capacity in response to demand and fulfill the resources needs of Google in the optimal way.

  • Drive cross-functional projects/programs to implement new capabilities and improve existing ones across the organization.

  • Establish new methods (statistical models, processes and software tools) to evaluate our ability to meet customer demand and develop strategies that optimize cost and flexibility.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally and drive resolution of capacity exceptions/escalations in a timely manner.

  • Build trusted relationships with program stakeholders, including managing expectations of executive cross-functional leads and ensure they have the insights they need to make effective decisions.

Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

  • 5 years of experience in program or project management.

  • Experience in working with IT infrastructure including servers and computer components.

  • Experience with data center infrastructure, supply chain planning.

Preferred qualifications

  • 5 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
