  • Identify and advise on legal considerations across Deep Mind research and product development efforts on a range of legal topics including liability, compliance, and copyright and data issues related to the development and deployment of AI systems and components.

  • Monitor and interpret evolving global regulations and compliance requirements, translating legal requirements into actionable technical guardrails for Deep Mind and the industry.

  • Partner with cross-functional teams to establish and refine external advocacy positions for existing and forthcoming regulatory regimes for AI, and advise on the implications for Deep Mind research and products.

  • Support drafting and discussion of agreements. Evaluate and apply open-source licenses to both incoming and outgoing code and data.

  • Advise executive management on risks associated with AI research direction and existing governance frameworks; and present options to mitigate those risks.

  • JD, equivalent degree, or equivalent practical experience.

  • Admitted to the bar and in good standing or otherwise authorized to practice law (e.g., have registered in-house status) in the state in which the position is located.

  • 3 years of post qualification experience in private practice or an in-house team.

  • Experience partnering with executives and stakeholders on legal matters.
