Product Counsel, DeepMind

Identify and advise on legal considerations across Deep Mind research and product development efforts on a range of legal topics including liability, compliance, and copyright and data issues related to the development and deployment of AI systems and components.

Monitor and interpret evolving global regulations and compliance requirements, translating legal requirements into actionable technical guardrails for Deep Mind and the industry.

Partner with cross-functional teams to establish and refine external advocacy positions for existing and forthcoming regulatory regimes for AI, and advise on the implications for Deep Mind research and products.

Support drafting and discussion of agreements. Evaluate and apply open-source licenses to both incoming and outgoing code and data.

Advise executive management on risks associated with AI research direction and existing governance frameworks; and present options to mitigate those risks.

JD, equivalent degree, or equivalent practical experience.

Admitted to the bar and in good standing or otherwise authorized to practice law (e.g., have registered in-house status) in the state in which the position is located.

3 years of post qualification experience in private practice or an in-house team.

Experience partnering with executives and stakeholders on legal matters.
