Android Engineering Productivity covers all the engineering productivity aspects of Android large screen and ChromeOS. Our mission is making the OS easy to change, hard to break and ship efficiently.

We are responsible for the build, test, and release infrastructure of Android large screen and ChromeOS.

This includes improving developer productivity, raising the product quality bar, improving device lifecycle efficiency, ensuring that the testing infrastructure is reliable and scalable.

The Android Apps Quality team is a sub-team under laptops and tablets test efficacy whose mission is to ensure the overall functionality, stability, and performance of apps on Android large screen and ChromeOS laptops. We collaborate closely with the development and product management teams to deliver a consistently fast and dependable user experience.

The Platforms and Devices team encompasses Google's various computing software platforms across environments (desktop, mobile, applications), as well as our first party devices and services that combine the best of Google AI, software, and hardware. Teams across this area research, design, and develop new technologies to make our user's interaction with computing faster and more seamless, building innovative experiences for our users around the world.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop automation for Android large screens.

• Lead or contribute to Android and ChromeOS engineering efforts from design to implementation, solving complex technical challenges to improve developer and engineering productivity and velocity.

• Analyze and decompose complex software systems, collaborating with cross-functional teams to design solutions that prioritize testability.

• Write and review code to implement engineering productivity systems.

• Build continuous build/test/release infrastructure.

Minimum qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.

• 1 year of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript).

Preferred qualifications

• Experience building tools that improve developer velocity, code quality and code health (e.g., compilers, automated releases, code design and testing, test automation frameworks).

• Experience with Android development environment.
