Google User Experience (UX) is made up of multi-disciplinary teams of UX Designers, Researchers, Writers, Content Strategists, Program Managers, and Engineers: we care deeply about the people who use our products. The UX team plays an integral part in gathering insights about the attitudes, emotions, and behaviors of people who use our products to inspire and inform design. We collaborate closely with each other and with engineering and product management to create industry-leading products that deliver value for the people who use them, and for Google’s businesses.

As an Interaction Designer, you’ll rely on user-centered design methods to craft industry-leading user experiences—from concept to execution. Like all of our UX jobs, you’ll collaborate with your design partners to leverage and evolve the Google design language to build beautiful, innovative, inspired products that people love to use.

As a Staff UX Designer you will join Google Cloud’s Applied AI team. You will partner with engineering and products to build Agentic-First platforms that redefine how enterprises interact with AI. In this fluid, collaborative environment, you will lead the entire design process—from concept to implementation—to shape the future of business-ready AI.

Applied AI builds conversational agents deployed at a large scale that achieve very meaningful results in the real world. Some examples include the customer agent built for large call center environments, to fast food ordering handled by our Food AI agent. The team is transforming how enterprises connect with customers through the power of AI. We also offer unique experiences for team members where you get to work directly with the model builders (Google Deep Mind / Vertex), learn and work with brilliant AI leaders, and have access to Global 1000 customers via our existing Google Cloud relationships. The opportunity in this space is tremendous.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $178,000-$265,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

• Lead the design of intuitive interfaces and multimodal experiences for Applied AI, ensuring interactions are natural and efficient across all platforms.

• Partner with Product and Engineering to define product strategy and influence cross-functional decisions that prioritize user outcomes.

• Use a systems-oriented approach to design probabilistic, multimodal interfaces that balance individual components with the overall AI experience.

• Create high-fidelity visuals and fluid, interactive prototypes using tools to communicate complex AI behaviors.

• Stay ahead of Generative AI trends to build ethical, impactful solutions that translate technical capabilities into human-centric tools.

Minimum qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

• 8 years of experience in product design or UX.

• 5 years of experience in interaction design across two or more of the following platforms (e.g., Android, iOS, Web).

Preferred qualifications

• Master's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

• 12 years of experience in product design or UX.

• 5 years of experience working in a complex, cross-functional organization.

• 4 years of experience leading design projects.

• 3 years of experience working with executive leaders.

• Demonstrated expertise in designing intuitive, goal-oriented interactions for AI-driven products and agentic platforms.
