The Android Telephony team is driving the next wave of technologies and services in the connectivity domain. We are looking for passionate engineers to help us on this journey.

We work on developing and launching mobile communication technologies and application and collaborate with internal and external partners (OEMs, Carriers, Enterprises) to ensure a high performance and reliable voice and data connectivity experience for Android users. We design and develop Android telephony OS frameworks, applications and services that improves connectivity for the Android ecosystem including Phones, Tablets, Wearables and Auto.

You will have an opportunity to shape the next-generation telephony features including working on Satellite, Embedded SIM (eSIM) and New Cellular connectivity features, UX, and enabling seamless multi-device calling and messaging experiences.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and launch new features across the Telephony software stack including Android framework, applications and Google back end servers.

• Collaborate closely with other Software Engineers, Product Managers , UX designers, cross-functional teams and external partners. Provide mentorship and technical leadership to team members.

• Debug and fix complex bugs reported during field testing and user feedback.

• Experiment on AI innovations to improve team velocity and features.

• Perform code reviews, implement metrics, enhance performance and continue driving Quality through automation and code refactoring.

Minimum qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

• 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Kotlin, Java).

• 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with large-scale application design and architecture.

• 3 years of experience with Android application development and coding in Java or Kotlin.

• Experience contributing to the Android Open Source Project (AOSP).

Preferred qualifications

• Experience working on the Android OS internals, Applications, Telephony Stack and Mobile wireless technologies (IMS, 3GPP, Satellite,eSIM, IP networks, IPSec).

• Experience with UI related features and working with UX team over figma.

• Experience working with full stack.

• Ability to learn new technologies, adapt to evolving requirements and drive ambiguous problems.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams.
