About the job

A problem isn’t truly solved until it’s solved for all. That’s why Googlers build products that help create opportunities for everyone, whether down the street or across the globe. As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

In this role, you will achieve excellent performance metrics across network deployment, capacity augment, and network repair to increase market share in the Cloud space. You will drive process improvement, introduce automation, and workforce solutions to get more efficient across those domains. You will have the knowledge of telecommunications data networks and how they are built and maintained in metros and data centers. You will work across multiple functions inside and outside of Google to develop approaches to deploying and operating our network globally.

The AI and Infrastructure team is redefining what’s possible. We empower Google customers with breakthrough capabilities and insights by delivering AI and Infrastructure at unparalleled scale, efficiency, reliability and velocity. Our customers include Googlers, Google Cloud customers, and billions of Google users worldwide.

We're the driving team behind Google's groundbreaking innovations, empowering the development of our AI models, delivering unparalleled computing power to global services, and providing the essential platforms that enable developers to build the future. From software to hardware our teams are shaping the future of world-leading hyperscale computing, with key teams working on the development of our TPUs, Vertex AI for Google Cloud, Google Global Networking, Data Center operations, systems research, and much more.

  • Work with Google network site acquisition teams, Edge Infrastructure Engineering, neutral colocation providers, and third-party operations support vendors on solutions that accommodate deployments.

  • Position third-parties supporting the Google networking team’s mission. Participate in vendor selection and on-boarding.

  • Work across all groups internal and external to Google to measure performance, drive process improvement, and drive automation efforts.

Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 2 years of experience in program management.

  • Experience in a data center or Point of Presence (POP) environment and with Outside-Plant (OSP), Inside-Plant (ISP), AC/DC power systems, environmental controls relay and rack/cabinet/cage construction.

  • Experience in telecommunications, optical network infrastructure, transmission systems, layer2/3 routers and data services.

Preferred qualifications

  • 5 years of experience in managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.

  • Experience in managing field operation technicians, engineers or vendors in a telecommunications environment.

  • Experience in managing third-parties to work toward goals.

  • Experience in collaborating across multiple levels and functions, with the ability to engage or collaborate in the decision-making.
