Google's custom-designed equipment makes up one of the largest and most powerful computing infrastructures in the world. The Manufacturing Operations team is responsible for providing the manufacturing capability to deliver this state-of-the-art physical infrastructure. As a Manufacturing Engineer, you evaluate the product designs and create the processes, tools and procedures behind Google’s powerful search technology. When vendors build parts for our infrastructure, you’re right there alongside ensuring manufacturing processes are repeatable and controlled. You collaborate with Commodity Managers and Design Engineers to determine Google’s infrastructure needs and product specifications. Your work ensures the various pieces of Google’s infrastructure fit together perfectly and keep our systems humming along smoothly for a seamless user experience.

Responsibilities

Be responsible for the quality and reliability of thermal deliverables throughout the life-cycle. Drive cross-functional activities in the supply chain for overall technical operational readiness in all New Product Introduction (NPI) phases.

Work cross-functionally to define and ensure processes in place to provide the data required to manage quality and reliability. Interface with suppliers to share feedback from the fleet and drive Return Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA), Corrective Action Request (CAR), Root Cause and RCCA, and Failure Analysis (FA).

Establish quality programs and process controls for early detection of issues and to ensure highest level of quality and reliability is delivered, such as Cpk's, 8D's, DOE’s, FMEA and other Industry standard tools to identify and address risks and optimize processes.

Provide on-site management for critical suppliers to ensure high quality products are built and delivered.
Minimum qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Thermal Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

8 years of experience in the Thermal technology and manufacturing process.

Experience in statistical product quality control, process capability, reliability, failure analysis, and process improvement.
Preferred qualifications

Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Thermal Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Quality Certification such as CQE, CQM, CRE, or CQA.

10 years of experience in Quality/Reliability and thermal technology.
-
Understanding of thermal management from infrastructure to chip including next generation cooling technologies, materials, components and solutions.
-
Ability to travel as needed.
