As part of the new wave of GenAI application development, AlloyDB is well positioned as the database for AI-powered applications by providing support for vector search. On the AlloyDB Semantic Search team, our mission is to be the industry-leading vector database for customers seeking to store vectors alongside their operational data and serve online queries at scale. We operate in the database engine space, applying research from search space into databases, and optimizing for extreme performance, scale and usability.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $197,000-$291,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

Responsibilities
-
Contribute to the long-term goal and strategy for semantic search in AlloyDB.

Mentor engineers and foster a culture of technical excellence and collaboration within the team.

Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams across different product areas and geographic locations, as well as directly with customers, to understand their needs and build the semantic search experiences.

Lead complex technical projects from inception to deployment in a fast-moving, innovative environment.

Design, develop, and deliver critical semantic search capabilities within AlloyDB, ensuring high performance, scalability, and reliability for our customers.
Minimum qualifications
-
Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
-
8 years of experience programming in C++.
Preferred qualifications
-
Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
-
8 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
-
3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
-
3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects.
-
Familiarity with database internals, operating systems, file systems, and cloud platforms.
