Engineering Analyst, YouTube, Trust and Safety

Trust and Safety team members are tasked with identifying and taking on the biggest problems that challenge the safety and integrity of our products. They use technical know-how, excellent problem-solving skills, user insights, and proactive communication to protect users and our partners from abuse across Google products like Search, Maps, Gmail, and Google Ads. On this team, you're a big-picture thinker and strategic team-player with a passion for doing what’s right. You work globally and cross-functionally with Google engineers and product managers to identify and fight abuse and fraud cases at Google speed - with urgency. We partner with teams across Google to deliver bold solutions in abuse areas such as malware, spam and account hijacking. A team of Analysts, Policy Specialists, Engineers, and Program Managers, we work to reduce risk and fight abuse across all of Google’s products, protecting our users, advertisers, and publishers across the globe in over 40 languages.
Responsibilities
-
Prevent fraud and abuse by identifying trends and products that are violating policies in Google Payments. Perform statistical data analysis and identify patterns and trends.

Collaborate with Engineering and Product teams to create and enhance tools, develop signals, system functionality, and robust reporting framework.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to evolve and improve enforcement strategy and enhance the experience of our users. Lead projects through the full project life-cycle that require cross-functional stakeholder management.

Facilitate and manage operations programs, working closely with Google engineers, product managers and vendor operations to develop and track project schedules and timelines.

Respond to escalations from internal and external parties within designated service levels.
Minimum qualifications
-
Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

2 years of experience in data analysis, including identifying trends, generating summary statistics, and drawing insights from quantitative and qualitative data.

2 years of experience managing projects and defining project scope, goals, and deliverables.
Preferred qualifications
-
Master’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
-
5 years of work experience in analytics and problem solving with an understanding of databases and querying languages (SQL,MySQL).

3 years of experience in the Payments Industry, Risk and Fraud Investigation, Internet Industry etc.
-
Experience with Advanced Analytics, Data Mining, or related Quantitative field.
-
Experience with merchant risk management, payments fraud prevention, project management and process optimization.
-
Familiarity in statistical analytical tools (R, SPSS, SAS) and coding (C/C++, Python, Java) with the ability to identify workflow pain points, optimize and scale processes.
