Help serve Google's worldwide user base of more than a billion people. Data Scientists provide quantitative support and market understanding to our partners throughout the organization. As a data-loving member of the team, you serve as an analytics expert for your partners, using numbers to help them make better decisions. You will weave stories with meaningful insight from data. You'll make critical recommendations for your fellow Googlers in Engineering and Product Management. You relish tallying up the numbers one minute and communicating your findings to a team leader the next.
As a part of the Android and Business Communication (ABC) Data Science (DS) team, you will contribute to powering ABC products decisions with Data Science and solve business problems using quantitative methods to influence organizational strategy.
As a part of the ABC DS team's investigative leadership across three key product pillars: Consumer Messaging (Google Messages and Rich Communication Services (RCS), Messages business generation and Protection, and Calling including Telephony, you will help empower product teams to deliver high-quality, safe, and seamless communication experiences for billions of Android users.
In this role, you will help serve Google Messages worldwide with the base of over 2 billion people. You will provide quantitative support, market understanding and a perspective to our partners throughout the organization. You will take the initiative as a data scientist, and apply your investigative and statistical toolkit to drive organizational and strategic decisions.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $132,000-$189,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

Responsibilities

Partner with stakeholders across multiple functions and locations to design and implement methodologies, dashboards and presentations.

Provide quantitative support and market understanding to our partners throughout the organization.

Serve as an analytics expert for partners, using numbers to help them make better decisions.

Weave stories with meaningful insight from data, making critical recommendations for your fellow Googlers in engineering and product management.

Minimum qualifications
-
Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Engineering, Physics, Economics, or a related quantitative field.

5 years of work experience with analysis applications (extracting insights, performing statistical analysis, or solving business problems), and coding (Python, R, SQL) (or 2 years work experience with a Master's degree).
Preferred qualifications

Master's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Engineering, Physics, Economics, or a related quantitative field.

5 years of work experience with analysis applications (e.g., extracting insights, performing statistical analysis, or solving business problems), and coding (e.g., Python, R, SQL).

Experience in an inter-disciplinary/cross-functional field with an interest and aptitude in data, metrics, analysis and trends and applied knowledge of measurement, statistics and program evaluation.

Experience working autonomously, acting as a product owner to deliver results for global teams.
-
Ability to translate analysis results into business recommendations with excellent communication skills.
