About the job

Be part of a team that pushes boundaries, developing custom silicon solutions that power the future of Google's direct-to-consumer products. You'll contribute to the innovation behind products loved by millions worldwide. Your expertise will shape the next generation of hardware experiences, delivering unparalleled performance, efficiency, and integration.

At Google, our computational hurdles are so unique and immense that off-the-shelf solutions aren't enough—we build the hardware ourselves. In this role, you will be responsible and accountable for designing and building the hardware working with the software/networking technologies that drive Google's services. Your work will span the entire development lifecycle, from low-level circuit design to large-scale system architecture, overseeing projects through to high-volume manufacturing. This work would be done in collaboration with JDM partners to power the next generation of devices.

In this role, you will manage a product's lifecycle from initial concept to mass production. In the Joint Design Manufacturing (JDM) model, you will lead concept proposals and evaluate product definitions for Home and Health products. You will be responsible for crafting the Engineering Requirement Specification (ERS), establishing high-quality benchmarks and stringent performance standards that define the criteria for the product's commercial success.
The Google Home team focuses on hardware, software and services offerings for the home, ranging from thermostats to smart displays. The Home team
researches, designs, and develops new technologies and hardware to make
users’ homes more helpful. Our mission is the helpful home: to create a
home that cares for the people inside it and the world around it.

Responsibilities

  • Drive system engineering excellence by managing a product's lifecycle from concept to mass production, specializing in either system electrical design or system validation.

  • Contribute to the ERS, converting the Product Requirements Document (PRD) into detailed technical and validation benchmarks for commercial success.

  • Lead holistic product electrical design powered by JDM partner and system integration across the entire development lifecycle, from low-level circuit design and architecture through to high-volume manufacturing.

  • Lead the development and execution of comprehensive system validation plans, performing complex measurements, analyzing data, and debugging hardware issues to mitigate design risks and ensure design verification compliance.

  • Partner with JDM/CM teams to manage both design maturity (through reviews/simulations) and validation accuracy, ensuring compliance with ERS.

Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.

  • 4 years of experience in consumer electronics system design.

  • 4 years of experience in consumer electronics hardware validation and system-level electrical testing.

  • 4 years of experience in validation planning and execution for one or more areas: high-speed interfaces (MIPI, PCIe, USB, DDR), power/battery systems, or analog/mixed-signal designs.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience in leading small teams or mentoring engineers for JDM/ODM models.

  • Proficiency with lab equipment and risk/impact assessment of hardware issues at system integration.
